merickson1131 Posted May 20, 2005 Posted May 20, 2005 Well, I read almost every post that had to do with potty issues and I have tried every suggestion. Austin seems ok with the crate training method at home but as soon as we get to my mom's he cant help but potty on the floor. At home he can hold it for hours while we are gone and while we are there he will let us know that he has to go potty by going to the door. The thing is at my parents he wont tell us, he just goes. It is strange because that is where we potty trained him. I know that he is still young and needs more training, which we are doing, but it seems that when he gets to my parents all the rules go out the window when it comes to potty time. I mean we will take him on his usual schedule and everything. He will go to the bathroom outside and then go when he gets back inside. I bring the crate with us and have tried to re-crate train him by putting him in the crate when he gets done outside and then after 15 or 20 mins taking him back outside to make sure that she doesn't have to go again. Nothing seems to work, because he will just go once we take him back in. There is another dog in the house so I thought that he might have marking issues but that does not seem to be the case. Whenever we are outside and Dixie, my parent's dog, goes potty, Austin doesn't care. He might sniff the spot but he doesn't even attempt to cover with his own scent. If anyone has any suggestions that might help please let me know. Oh, I usually take him out at least every hour since he is only 12 weeks. Quote
DogPaddle Posted May 20, 2005 Posted May 20, 2005 That is a tough one. The only thing I can suggest is to leash him to you while at your mum's, watch him like a hawk, if he starts to cock a leg or squat or make a mistake in the house, wisk him outside quite briskly, let him finish outside - stay out there a long time if you have too, and praise. Maybe someone else has something better. Quote
