Pooh Bear was sedated yesterday morning for his hip x-rays, and last night he was still very sleepy and didn't want to eat.

Today he didn't want to eat, but he is drinking. He has a tough time pooping, and when it does come out, it's diarrhea. He's still sleepy and doesn't want to play.

I talked with my vet as well as the vet who took the x-rays and sedated him. They both said that he's basically having an anesthesia hangover. When he was x-rayed the first time, at my vet's, he didn't have any after effects from the sedation. But this time he's definitely not himself. The new vet said that my vet didn't give him enough sedation to get good x-rays.

My vet said to try to give him some hamburger and rice tonight and see if that helps him feel better.

The new vet said to give him a little Pepto Bismol and see if that soothes him tummy. He recommended just offering him his regular food tonight.

So I'm going to give him some Pepto before I go to work. I wish I could stay home with my puppy. :(

Newfiemom, thanks for letting me know about your dogs. It sounds like it's not that uncommon to take a few days to recover from anesthesia. Pooh Bear has really become a momma's boy too.

I wuv my widdle Pooh Bear! :iloveyou: :lilangel:

Yay! Pooh Bear is back to normal now! I guess all he needed was a Pepto and some more sleep. He played with the girls and ate his supper! I gave him half of his normal supper tonight since this is the first time he's eaten since Wednesday (except for little treats).

When I first came in the door after work (1:00 a.m.), I didn't hear anything downstairs (which is where Pooh Bear's crate is), even as I started down the stairs. So I was really scared! But by the time I hit the bottom step, Pooh Bear started talking.

Yippee!
