Guest Anonymous Posted April 20, 2005 Posted April 20, 2005 Sorry for the fly by posting have been SUPER busy lately but I have to tell you this. Thank GOD I have a van. My vets office called me at work today to see if I minded them neutering my c@t while I was there tonight (Vet knows I'm a former vet tech and can monitor him at home just as well as there and I'm here they won't be there) and did I mind bringing in all of my dogs for rabies shots and their yearly's. NOT a problem....I have a "Mini" van. So I rush home after work and load up two large crates, one medium crate and two c@t sized crates (one had the pom the other the c@t in it). We drive the 25 minutes to the vets and he sedates the c@t, runs two heartworm test and give two rabies shots. Snips the c@t, does a heartworm test on Bernie the foster dog (NEGATIVE THANK GOD!), we bring in Prissy my Pit Bull, Doc gives her the Rabies and draws blood, mom and son sitting in lobby pulls as close to the wall as they can. Vet's wife asked for Prissy's information (Prissy has been going to a different vet until now) and asked "What breed is she" (At this point I explain that this is a one room lobby/exam room with a husband wife team and I love the place). Hubby is holding Prissy, turns towards vet's wife so she can see Prissy. I about died laughing her eyes got real big and she said "MIX...Yes a Mix unknown breed mix". I looked at her and she said "to cover YOUR ass if something were ever to happen or they pass that ban garbage". The whole time we are waiting for the test results and all Prissy is licking AJ trying to lick my teeth (YUCK!) and just being a love bug but the mom was dying and wishing we would hurry up. She asked me if I trusted her with AJ...My response "There are only two dangerous things on her, her tail and her eagerness to show you how much she loves you". Well then Prissy goes back out to the van and in comes Gretchen the ACD (mix?) and well she is her normal self and Doc tells me they should Ban HER! She was wild! Took two of us to hold her for the exam! The good news is once again I have proven to my vet that my using Ivomect instead of buying Heartguard is working and my dogs are all healthy and happy! He still wants to do a dental on CJ with light sedation but with CJ's heart problems I'm SCARED to do it. Quote
kendalyn Posted April 20, 2005 Posted April 20, 2005 Wow! It sounds like your crew took up pretty much the whole office :-) Congrats on Bernie being heartworm negative! Quote
Horsefeathers! Posted April 21, 2005 Posted April 21, 2005 Just reading your post wore me out, Tammy! :o Glad it all worked out. It's about time for mine to start doing heartworm tests again and I always hate it (not to mention paying for tests for ten dogs). :P Quote
JackieMaya Posted April 21, 2005 Posted April 21, 2005 Yikes! What a busy time that was! I'm very lucky that my vet is 2 blocks away from me. So if I decide to do separate trips for some reason, it takes about a minute to do. On the other hand, the vet that I had to take Pooh Bear to for his new hip x-rays, is about 45 minutes away. But since Pooh Bear is SOOO good in the car, a long drive is no big deal if I have the time. Quote
