CincoandDahlilasgirl Posted April 3, 2005 Posted April 3, 2005 I got this off a rescue site and thought it was useful so here ya go if u want to see it. "DID YOU KNOW?" Coolant Coolant is extremely toxic and due to its sweet odor and taste is very attractive to animals. When your dog is outside, please be aware of any possible exposure to coolant. Skunk Remedy 1 quart 3% Hydrogen Peroxide 1/4 cup Baking Soda 1 teaspoon Liquid Dish Soap Mix in a bucket or bowl: it will be fizzy. Don't put it in a sealed bottle, could "explode" the lid off. Thoroughly wet your dog with the solution. Knead it well into the coat, to chemically alter every bit of the thiols on the hair. Be careful to keep the solution out of the eyes, nose and mouth. Use a sponge to wipe it on the face. Follow the solution bath with a thorough rinse of clear water. DO NOT SAVE ANY LEFTOVER SOLUTION. Quote
Ash Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 That's good, I tried it on Smokie, but it didn't wrok so well. Actually your probably gonna think this is weird but I what I found works best is a tiny bit of vanilla extract mixed in a spray bottle of water. It really covers the smell well. Well better then anything else that we tried.. Even tried tomato juice baths, and such, those were not fun ! Quote
