DogPaddle Posted March 31, 2005 Posted March 31, 2005 I have completed the spring yard cleanup! I may just suck at yard cleanup but through the winter I will miss a poopsicle or two now end then because they get snow covered. Spring, therefor, has its own special ordour unless I get the spring yard cleanup done. I use one of those hose resevoirs and a petmessenzyme product to really take care of it once the main job is done. I hate doing it but I love having it done. Of course the moment I finish both boys have to go and mess it up. Quote
IYPChrissie Posted March 31, 2005 Posted March 31, 2005 I am in South Florida so we have to keep the yard cleaned constantly or you can't sit on the porch without the smell of dog poop. But of course it only stays clean about 10 mins before he goes out there lol. Glad you got it done and that Spring is coming! Quote
imported_Debbie Posted March 31, 2005 Posted March 31, 2005  The dark side of pet ownership !!! When I'm out there my neighbors will make funny comments, and I'll say "Y'know I wish this stuff were worth something ....cause I'd be a millionaire !!!!!" My yard is clean and lovely too......I've been picking it up right along and now that the snow has almost gone It's uncovered more presents that I got picked up !!!! :D What do you spray on the ground ? AllAmericanPUP Posted March 31, 2005 Posted March 31, 2005 spring yard cleaning is commin up real soon here..just have to wait for some nice weather where it isnt so windy! Quote
DogPaddle Posted March 31, 2005 Author Posted March 31, 2005 I use one of two solutions, depending on what I have in the house. I use a product like Nature's Miracle, I forget the name sadly. It comes in two parts a liquid and the dry enzyme, you mix them before you use them. I put that in a garden hose attatchments, the type typically used to apply fertalizer or pesticide when you spray the hose. If I'm out of that I use a light bleach and dishsoap combination. You'd think it would damage the lawn but so far there seems to be no effect. I mix it about 1/4 bleach and 3/4 water and a couple squirts of dishsoap. Then I set the resevoir mixer to around 45%. It helps that much of my yard is patio stone though. Quote
schippsmom Posted April 1, 2005 Posted April 1, 2005 :Dog_run: I also did spring cleaning today. The yard was finally dry enough to get out there. I had to laugh, I looked at one "pile" and there was an eyeball staring at me. I do recall he ate an eyeball from a toy midway through winter. It was a cloth one so I didn't get too excited when he did it. I think I will try to spray, see what happens. Quote
xavierandrea Posted April 1, 2005 Posted April 1, 2005 My yard needs immediate attention but we are still so muddy. We are expecting 3-5 inches of rain tommorow. Yuck. I can't wait to get my hands on that yard of mines! Quote
imported_Debbie Posted April 1, 2005 Posted April 1, 2005  X, that's why I cleaned my yard up a bit at a time while everything was still frozen......frozen poo is easier to pick up than mushy gusy poo....  I take a plastic store bag in one hand and another plastic bag over my other hand and pick with one and haul with the other !!!  Quote
xavierandrea Posted April 1, 2005 Posted April 1, 2005 Debbie we were doing that 1 bag in each hand until we got the rain started this past weekend. Boy I love spring :-? Quote
behle Posted April 1, 2005 Posted April 1, 2005 Yuck! Just came back in from collecting the vast array of presents that collected over the winter... :o :o :o Most are gone, but I'm sure I missed a few. Perhaps tomorrow. I could have used a gas mask. I use a large bucket and spring-activated scoop thingy that I can use without bending over, so the task is not too difficult physically. But the fenced area they use is large and takes a while to criss-cross back and forth to find all the bombs. Plus, as the bucket fills the smell wafts upward to my nose. I tried collecting it while the ground was frozen, but they were stuck to the ground... :x Glad it's done...for now. Quote
DogPaddle Posted April 2, 2005 Author Posted April 2, 2005 I started the spring cleanup 3x this year because of the wonky thaw/blizzard cycle we've been going through. Quote
DogPaddle Posted April 3, 2005 Author Posted April 3, 2005 Gah! It snowed . . . AGAIN! @#$% Quote
mouseatthebusstop Posted April 3, 2005 Posted April 3, 2005 Mine always do that - as soon as it's cleaned and hosed down :P Quote
