pollysmith Posted March 25, 2005 Posted March 25, 2005 Hi! Everyone who followed my previous posts about getting a deaf great dane pup and then it died? Well I got a surprise yesterday when my husby brought home a blue merle great dane puppy, the last one remaining from that ill-fated litter. He is beautiful! :D Quote
nadooshkinz Posted March 25, 2005 Posted March 25, 2005 Awww! That's so great!!! I hope you're taking tons and tons of pictures  If not, be prepared to endure the wrath of 40-some dogomaniacs! Quote
imported_Debbie Posted March 25, 2005 Posted March 25, 2005 :D Sounds great !!! Definitely have him Vet checked and tested as soon as possible........ I sure hope he's healthy !! Congrats !!! :beerchug: Quote

pollysmith Posted March 25, 2005 Author Posted March 25, 2005 I'll post some pics as soon as husby shows me how. Yes I'm aware of the color and other problems you've mentioned, yes the vet said he was clear of parvo, He recieved his first shots weds. He needs a second worming in a week. His name is Qwilleran, after the main character in a series of books I like. He's tiny now its amazing to think that a year from now he'll be able to look husby in the eye, almost. Quote
__crazy_canine__ Posted March 25, 2005 Posted March 25, 2005 Congrats, and cant wait to see pics!! :D ..so Im kind of confused though. Maybe I missed it somewhere, but was this pup from a rescued litter (and their mom possibly?) or was it from a breeder? Mei-Mei napisał(a):Blue Merle is not an approved color for Great Danes. You know, I never really knew that before. I assumed it was because almost every Great Dane I see in PetsMart is blue merle. :o  Quote
pollysmith Posted March 25, 2005 Author Posted March 25, 2005 He is from a woman who wanted to started her own breeding kennel So she had her female bred and produced ten pupies. Unfortunately the parvo took all the pups except this one who was actually not with the others but had been taken away a couple days previous by people who wanted to try him out! He escaped the worst of it and never got sick. Quote
imported_Kat Posted March 26, 2005 Posted March 26, 2005 Congrats on the new pup. The breeder really doesn't sound very responsible at all, but I hope for your sake that this puppy works out for you with no problems  Quote
