anyone ever tried this for socializing???

Has anyone ever tried playing a "soundtrack" type CD with sounds of traffic, kids playing, etc. in order to help socialize a dog.

Ok, I know it sounds kinda lazy, but here is where the idea came from. My pup seems a little startled by my car alarm--I have been getting him used to EVERYTHING. I can't be sitting in my driveway with my alarm going off over and over again. I would not be so popular with my neighbors. Then I thought of this idea and realized that it could be applied to other sounds also--dogs barking, sirens, helicopters, dinosaurs, etc.

I am not going to play it too loud, but I was wondering what yall thought in general?

I know people who have done that to desensitize their dog to thunder.....

I'm not sure if it would be the same, though. There is so much visual stimulation as well as auditory, ya know?

i do that with my dogs when they are sleeping cause bentley wouldnt sleep in his crate so i play a heartbeat sound effect and loopit at real low volume's through the suround sound cause the crate's are in the living room some nite's i even sleep out there
