Well I know there are many rescue dogs and dogs from breeders here that we all love and was wondering how u all fell for ur beloved pets?

I'll start. We fell for Dahlila when the lady took her and her sister out for us to look at and Dahlila came right to my mom.

We fell for Cinco when we were looking at adopting our number 2 dog and went to the HS and were walking up and down the isle and walked by his cage and didn't see him at 1st(he was in the back) and he ran up to the front putting his to the door and barked so I turned around and looked into his deep eyes and my dad called my mom on her cell and told her to come so we could do a meet and greet.

with Bongo, my hubby and I were looking at the animal shelter on Guam, there were tons of puppies, but somehow we both saw him and immediately said, he's the one :D
with Bailey, Brad and I were working at the HS bathing dogs and cats and everytime we walked by her kennel she stared at me with her big brown eyes - I kept coming back to look at her and after we were done workign I had Brad call his dad to come down and see her also......
she was ours from the beginning :D in the greeting room she was so good and knew commands and even fell asleep on Brads lap  some kennel workers said they had trouble with her growling at people, but she never once did that to us there or at home - I guess it was meant to be, she knew she was ours :D

I had moved back into my parents' house to take care of my dad when he was dying of cancer. It's a big house with a big fenced yard, and my dad (and my whole family) has always been a big dog lover. I had been dog-less for about 20 years when I was living in apartments, so I figured it would be great to get a dog to keep my dad company when I was gone to work. And we had just put my mom in a nursing home with Alzheimer's.

I saw Jackie's picture on Petfinder.com and just fell in love with her. Her big ol' tongue was hanging out, and she just had that happy face and eyes that just grabbed me. And I really liked her coloring too.

My dad, brother and I went to the foster family's house to meet Jackie, and we all fell in love with her. I filled out the paperwork, paid the money and took her home that day.

Jackie made my dad laugh just by being a goofy dog during the worst time of his life when he was very depressed. And she helped me deal with the grief of basically losing both parents at the same time.

Six months later, I decided to get another dog for Jackie, and saw Maya's picture on Petfinder.com. I took Jackie to Maya's foster home to meet her, and they got along great. I had to go to work that day, so I went back the next day and brought Maya home. She and Jackie have been best friends ever since!

Ohhh Nice topic!!

Lets see.. Zoey.. well Justin wanted a rottie. he had always wanted one so we were always looking on petfinder. we found one that we wanted that was Deaf. his name was Moazart.. but the people wouldn't give us the time of day.. so we went on and kept looking and found "Bizzy" just a small little side shot of her little face. justin saw her and said. That's the one i want i want her.. so we called and asked them when she was avaiable they said on Saturday, but she' s not a purebred. we said that's ok we will out on sat.. sooo feb 15th 2003 we got int he truck ( justin having a cast on his leg after just breaking his foot at work ) and dorve 3 1/2 hours in the snow to Yakima HS.. they brought out "Bizzy" and handed her to me. the first thing she did was pee on me.. i should have known.. Justin lauged and said ypu she's ours... and we left with her...

A few months later we decided Zoey needed a playmate. she loved playing with her boyfreind Diesle next door ( a bigger rottie ) so we looked on pet finder again. Justin had his rottie and i was looking for a Golden Retreiver.. i emailed a group about a golden but he had already been adopted then they told me that they were getting in an 11 week old australian shepherd that was deaf and as soon as they got pictures they'd send them to me.. so i waited and waited and waited.. realized that there were 2 aussies in my family. my aunt had one and my uncle had one.. they were great dogs .. as soon as i got the picture of cody i melted and said. he's the one i want him.. drove 2 hours and a 20 min ferry ride north and brought zoey up to meet him. they hit it off right away. there he was just a little ball of white fluff......

before justin left for Iraq i really wanted a small dog.. ( ask bailey's mom. i already had a named picked out for him and everything ) It was sorta my present from justin for him leaving.. i looked on pf. for pomeranians. my parents had one and justin and i loved it and we wanted a small dog no more big ones. one look at boonies picture and he was ours..

after we had boonie put to sleep i was compeltly upset and i told justin i still wanted another one .. he found "jo jo's" picture and got him for me. i went down and picked him up and he's been attached at my hip ever since. lol litterally he wont leave me alone

Great stories from all you folk. I haven't actually even chose a dog before. My dad chose Zoe as a 2 week old puppy because she was the most mischievious of all the pups and even at that age she was pottering and yapping as she wriggle over to him hehe. Meg was chosen by her owners or rather the breeder said to give her a trial as the woman fell for Meg the quietest pup and the breeder planted her in her lap as they were about to drive away. The first time I met Meg however she was very clingy with me and we just bonded :D

I didn't fall for Ilsa at all - in fact, the first time I saw her was the day I picked her up from the breeder.

I had thought that I wanted a black girl, but when the breeder sent me a photo of Ilsa's sire - a big red boy - I knew I wanted a red. I put in my reserve for a red female. When the litter was born, Ilsa was the only red in the litter. Since I had put the reserve down first, I got her! Looking back on it, I should have taken one of the blacks - Ilsa was the noisiest, most in-your-face attention seeking puppy of the entire bunch. She's kept those qualities with her, and she's now one of the noisiest, most in-your-face attention seeking ADULT Doberman I've ever met!

Ah well... gotta love her, even if she *is* a pain in the rear end!

My husband picked speckles out of a box and brought her home. I thought she was the ugliest pup I'd ever seen but she has grown into a beautiful dog who is the most loving companion in the world!

My brother found him near a local park. His friend had Smokie (mysig) follow him home, he intentially meant to keep him, but his mom wouldn't let them. So I remember me (not so much) and my brother begged to have him. My parents were so reluctant, and now he's their baby..lol.

How'd I fall in love with him? Ah because he's so sweet he loves to snuggle. He really didn't do anything to win me over but just by finally starting to come in the house and me warming up to him. Now we fight, and he play bites me, and I thought I'd never trust a dog like that, but I know he'd never hurt me. I think it's so cute because he loves to be hugged and kissed.. lol!
Oh, and he's VERY smart. Probably one of the smartest dogs you'd ever meet.
