Guest Mutts4Me Posted February 15, 2005 Posted February 15, 2005 It's on :) I'm so excited because they're starting with the Working Group. I expect dog shows to start with Working (why, I don't know), and I get thrown off when they don't, like the NAtional Championship a couple weeks ago. I can't wait for the terriers, either. A Bull Terrier from my town went to Westminister; she's a service dog, and I've met her before. I'm anxious to see if she made BOB. How cool would that be?! OMG, Remmy's back!! How cool. That is a goregeous Akita; the second I saw him I was like "Remmy!" He's retiring for therapy work, too, which is awesome. Quote
JackieMaya Posted February 15, 2005 Posted February 15, 2005 Bummer! I'm at work with no t.v. I'll have to see it when they replay it later on. Quote
ObedienceGrrl Posted February 15, 2005 Posted February 15, 2005 I pointed out the sleeping mastiff to Jeremy. He was adorable! Quote
drjeffrock Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 Rats, I missed it. I was at the uni for the fast few nights. So, it was Remy representing for the akitas? I have seen Remy on TV a few times, beautiful dog, but not really my cup of tea. So, did they actually show Remy in the ring, or did they cut to a commercial like they always do in the middle of the working breeds? Quote
__crazy_canine__ Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 The Great Pyr won Working Group.... my canine science teacher said its coat was incorrect. :-? Wonder if hes right.... Im so happy the Shorthair won! Also, that handler is the one my teacher usually uses. He said she handled the Doberman from the first night, too, I think.... Quote
ObedienceGrrl Posted February 16, 2005 Posted February 16, 2005 She is also the handler that had Josh last year. What in the world was wrong with the Pyr's coat? Quote
__crazy_canine__ Posted February 17, 2005 Posted February 17, 2005 Ionno... he said it wasnt the right type or something. He heard it from one of his friends who went to Westminster. Quote
pyrless Posted February 17, 2005 Posted February 17, 2005 [quote name='"__crazy_canine__"']The Great Pyr won Working Group.... my canine science teacher said its coat was incorrect. :-? Wonder if hes right.... no. for one thing he would never have gotten that far with an "incorrect" coat, and I can tell you from looking at him that his coat was fine. it looks a little fluffy when the dog is clean and groomed for a show, but trust me, once the judge gets his hands on it, well, once anyone gets their hands on it, you can tell the difference in a Pyr's coat from, say, a Samoyed's coat, which is stand-off, and incorrect type in the Pyr. Is this what your teacher meant? If he meant markings that is also correct-the Pyr can have up to 1/3 of his body marked as long as it gives the impression of being overall white. Quote

Because it was live, they didn't cut anyone out, and I think they ran the dogs during commercials, or just waited. When it airs on network, it'll be edited up the wazoo, and Remy may not make it, who knows. I like him because I love seeing all Akitas, especially the patterned ones. I don't have an eye for "standard" or whathave you, so I'm just happy to see one. I do prefer brown/white pinto to black/white, but only because I think the brown lets you see their features better than black. No offense, Kira ;) Quote
pyrless Posted February 18, 2005 Posted February 18, 2005 i really liked seeing a black and white akita, i have never seen one before! at first i did not recognize him as an akita, i was just like "wow"! :D Quote

Guest Mutts4Me Posted February 21, 2005 Posted February 21, 2005 [quote name='pyrless']yes! yes! pictures! ;-) Oh, fine, I'll do it... Jeff's not here as much as he used to be, so I found his album where you can see Kira and Dexter: http://www.shutterfly.com/osi.jsp?i=67b0de21b3264f0a25c6  Can you tell I'm in love with his dog? Both, actually. I love finding Akita/pit bull pairs, since I suspect I may end up with one eventually, and it's nice to see it's possible. Quote
