that depends.

The HS here SUX. They dont really seem to care about the animals and where they go.
All you have to do is walk in, pick out a dog(or two or three or four or however many you want) pay the money and you get the dogs(or cats)
that's really sad, cause they dont spay/neuter or vaccinate or anything.

with rescues, you have to fill out an adoption application, have it approved, pick out a dog you like, they see if it suits you, have a home check, and then you get the dog(AFTER the dog has been vet checked, spay/neutered and vaccinated).

but then again there are HS's that screen the adoptees, they vaccinate the dogs, they spay/neutere, and they really care.

and there are rescues that I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot poll.

and generally HS's are run by the government and rescues are run solely by donations

My Humane Society is private and funded on donations; we have a county-run Animal Control which is not that great, but at the same time it doesn't get a lot of resources and support.

A rescue is run by a group of individuals, and probably started as one person's project. They often run on a foster situation, which means the animals are in homes and not cages, so they have limited space. Humane Societies are shelter situations, so they can take a larger number of animals at a time. TGenerally, Humane Societies tend to not only rehome animals but educate the public, doing outreach programs, taking animal cruelty reports, offering spay/neuter or vaccination clinics, having fundraisers, etc. However, if they're not well supported, this can be difficult.

That kinda sounds like 1 here we took the time to get to know 1 dog there a few months ago but never adopted it.
1-cuz I reminded my parents of a mistake that I was victim of a HAWS(the hs) cuz they failed to mention it was distemper + or however they get diagnosed(I was at school when my parents took him to the vet thinking he had some kind of infection making him vicouse towards everyone that so much as just walked by him) and what he did to me was the last straw for them well neway they found out and told me he had distemper(my dad had to write the school a letter just so they'd stop questing wether the dog really caused the bruise over my eye he did it but idk how all i remember is going downstairs and all of a sudden he runs in from outside and go flying onto the concrete floor but positive it was him cuz he was snarling and everything)so we took him back to the HS and when we got him they said if theres a problem within the 1st 6 months they'd refund him well it was 5 and no refund.
2-Volunteers are verry rude there they have a dog in there possesion for a day and they think they no it.
with all that said my dad eventualy pretty much said F*** this place lets but he just said lets go and left out the f part.
