nothing big just wanted to tell you that this session in the puppy 2 class that i teach i have a cute little boston named stella! she had the cutest little rainbow colored handmade sweater on the other night. she is a riot and her dad doesn't really care if she sits or not he makes jokes the entire time haha. she is in a class full of big dogs -- we have a berner, a berner/huskyX, springer, an oodle of some sort, & a bc. i have no doubt stella will keep them all in line :D

we also have a corgi (her name escapes me right now) in basic class. i don't know that we've had a corgi in class before so that is kinda cool. that class is totally wild. 3 labX (one lab/border collie X) and a corgi! should be an interesting session!

That's so cute!! Toto was the smallest one in his puppy class too. It was 4 years ago but I remember a Golden retriever, a black lab, and a german shepard those are the only ones I remember but I know there were others. By the time they got to intermediate Toto was so tiny compared to all these guys. But he would come in and just take over the place he had all the dogs attention when he walked in there. He always had to tease them in some way. He would run up and get them to chase him or go under their bodies, I remember one of the dogs would just go crazy when he would do that. He was the center of attention he had this routine we made up for the last class were we had to come up with a trick. He would roll over, jump through the hoop, then sit up at the end. I miss puppy class. :(

which reminds me there is a cairn in my basic class. her name is cosby -- which totally confuses me because i would think that's a male name. we have a cockapoo named colby who is also female -- more name/gender confusion haha. the cairn is by far the most outgoing in that class -- she is a pill and i use her most often in my demos. i also have a swissie show dog in there -- he is very laid back and once he lays down he is not interested in getting up (probably because his mom feeds him before class -- ugh!).

esslover: your problem is not really carson! the springer in class is a tad bit rude but i am not sure if all brain cells are working :)

Can I ask you a question Rotten Two? You said there was a female cairn in class I haven't ran into too many. But do you have many in your class. If so which to you find to be more wild and independent a male or female. I was told that cairns would be very independent and not interested in sitting in your lap and relaxing. But to my surprise Toto has been nothing but a love bug wanted to sit with us all the time and he was never wiggly when you held him as a puppy instead he would just lie down and relax when you held him. I was wondering if all males cairns are like that or perhaps he is just an unusual one. I keep debating whether I want to get another one some day but I am afraid I would compare them too much and mine doesn't seem to follow any of the breed guidelines.

carson was not bad -- he was just more interested in the bunny than training. had we been able to get better attention you would see he is quite clever. did you get the bunny scent? we laugh now thinking we should never have shown carson eggbert! we still keep the shades and shower curtain up so as to block the view!

cairn6:

i have seen several cairns in our classes. i would say half male half female (all altered mind you). just in my limited experience i would say the males have been more reactive (woofy lungy at anything that moves). the female i have now barks a few times when she sees another dog but settles quickly. her dad is quite impressed that when i demo with her she does what i ask. she doesn't seem the lovey dovey type to want to sit in their laps tho. she wants to be on the floor and not held -- in class at least. i think you can make generalizations about a breed but even within a breed you will find different personalities and characteristics. so just because toto is a lap dog doesn't necessarily mean another male would act the same or that another female wouldn't.
