DogPaddle Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 If I am going to give the boys a special treat I often put them in a sitstay, place the treat in front of them on the ground, wait a few seconds and then tell them release. Kavik goes for the treat right in front of him . . . so does Zaphod, leaning his body across his treat. In this way he eats Kavik's and then, as he leans back, also eat his own treat. He is very fast. I am pleased that he is so clever but he must know he is being naughty. I will have to remember to have them sitstay further apart to give Kavik a chance. Quote
Horsefeathers! Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 Why is it that a dog that can normally act dumb as a box of rocks any other time (speaking solely for mine, of course  ) can show incredible reason, thought, and problem solving skills when it's for the sake of doing something downright naughty? Quote
DogPaddle Posted January 3, 2005 Author Posted January 3, 2005 I see my boy is not the only one with food inspired intelligence and drive. Quote
pyrless Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 again, my Taz does the EXACT same thing-it upsets Sasha so much we can't give them treats together! Quote
imported_Kat Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 hehe I can imagine the scene perfectly. They really do need more credit than what we give them  Quote
DogPaddle Posted January 4, 2005 Author Posted January 4, 2005 On a very good day, when we have been practicing, they are capable of doing a sitstay for their treats (on the ground) and being released individually by name - I always do Kavik first though because he just eats his treat. Quote
JackieMaya Posted January 5, 2005 Posted January 5, 2005 gigishiba napisaĆ(a):Mine must sit for a treat as well, but once they get it, they both take off in different directions to eat it! Jackie and Maya do the same thing! If they get their treats as they're going outside, they go their separate ways out there. But if they're inside, Jackie goes downstairs to eat her treat and Maya stays put and eats hers. Quote
