__crazy_canine__ Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 I just cant help myself so I look at the different bully/power breeds (AmStaff, APBT, Staffy, AmBull, Neo, Cane Corso, Presa Canario, French Mastiff, etc.) on petfinder when Im bored. Well I found a purebred, CKC registered, unbelievably handsome, young APBT in Tyler which is only about an hour from here. He caught my eye unlike any other dog (except for the very few who are out of my reach, lol) and I want him so bad. Its killing me not having a dog... no, not just a dog, a pit bull. Ugh I want him so bad. http://www.petfinder.com/pet.cgi?action=2&pet=3774613&adTarget=468doggeneral&SessionID=41d36b06743f23df-app1&display=&preview=1&row=100&tmpl=&stat= Quote

__crazy_canine__ Posted December 31, 2004 Author Posted December 31, 2004 All those are really really cute ...but not my style. Ive become really picky about what type of pits I like for some strange reason. I like cropped ears ((again, Ive said this before but) I would never do it but if I could rescue a pit w/cropped ears then woohoo! ) and a solid built dog... and a blocky head but not TOO blocky like those BYB pits mixed w/mastiffs n other breeds! Which is generally why Ive grown to like AmStaffs over APBTs. Yeah my mom wont let me have a dog. She uses the same excuses over and over again... when I know its only because of money, which is understandable. Quote
AllAmericanPUP Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 yea we all have our own likings for pitties(and other breeds) the dog you posted isn't my style either lol. i like gamey type dogs. i don't like real stocky dogs, but i have seen some real nice lookin am staffs but when i get the chance to do rescue or foster, i'll take any pitty that needs a home :D one style of "pitties" that i'll never agree with are the overly huge dogs and the really short blocky dogs(all the blue mutant mutts) Quote
AllAmericanPUP Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 totally would adopt this dog in a heart beat Quote
__crazy_canine__ Posted December 31, 2004 Author Posted December 31, 2004 [quote name='AllAmericanPUP']totally would adopt this dog in a heart beat Okay now that we both can agree on! Quote
AllAmericanPUP Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004  i just saw him on the front page of pbrc and i as like WOW :iloveyou: :D Quote

Hes sweet as can be and his coloring is stunning! He might not be a mastiff mix but I think he is since at a year old he was already 67 lbs and still growing. :o Ugh I dont like the breeding of these dogs but Smokey stole my heart. I actually like the hugeness about them but the fact that fighters are using that as an "advantage" in the ring is disgusting. But anyway I dont like short, low-to-the-ground pits AT ALL!!! They look so deformed, its as if theyre in pain, IMO! Quote
AllAmericanPUP Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 i like big ole mastiff type dogs too. but that's why i like mastiffs LOL. i just dont like over sized "pits".. actually, let me rephase that. I don't like overly sized disproportioned "pits" i'm "ok" with large "pits" as long as they are proportioned this guy is pretty stunning http://www.pbrc.net/dogpages/north/goliathN11473.html Quote
__crazy_canine__ Posted December 31, 2004 Author Posted December 31, 2004 Exactly! Well put! ...like Smokey, hes well-proportioned (really almost leggy but then again Im used to stockier dogs) Yup Ive seen Goliath before. His mouth in the first picture is almost... too jowl-y lol but IDK maybe its just that pic. I love having lots a jowls to grab onto though! hehehe, it only means a biger bully grin! :D Quote
AllAmericanPUP Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 yea i thought that about his jowls too. but pics are deceiving so ya never know.. have any body shots of Smokey? Quote
__crazy_canine__ Posted December 31, 2004 Author Posted December 31, 2004 Well I never had the chance to take any pics pf him myself but there are some on Straydog and Petfinder. Body shots though? Only from when he was a lot younger and his body has changed a lot since then... hes blockier and his head has gotten a lot bigger. Ill go look though. Oh BTW, I figured out who Dr. Wags/Wagtail is! ...and I love her, shes a great person to know! :D Quote
__crazy_canine__ Posted December 31, 2004 Author Posted December 31, 2004 Im in the green shirt! Me-bright-green, Straydog shirt lol This ones probably the best body picture... but again its older and over the past few months his body has changed a lot. This isnt the best picture but its more recent, or at least I think just by the way hes filled out in this one. Quote
AllAmericanPUP Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 awwwwwwwwwww he is so cute!!!! how long has he been with straydog??? glad ya figured out who dr. wagtail was! i love her! she is so nice! she has offered to take eli if anything ever happens to me :) Quote
__crazy_canine__ Posted December 31, 2004 Author Posted December 31, 2004 Actually, hes not with Straydog... hes with Angie's K9 Kids. Angies a rescuer in Dallas and Bill has allowed her (well, not her but her volunteers) to bring some of her dogs up to PetsMart with us. Poor lady. She lives off of social security checks and feeds the dogs before herself. Shes living in her own house but its pretty much been made into a zoo since she has over 60 dogs living with her! :o I dont know how she does it. Anyway hes been with her for at least a year I know because I think I first met him about ...10 months ago maybe? Now that I look at him more maybe he doesnt have mastiff in him ...its just now hes so huge and is filling out. IDK, he might... these pictures were from when he was young so ya never know. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 STOP IT YOU ARE KILLING ME!!!!!!!!!!! All these pictures is putting me into pittie over load. Quote
Guest Mutts4Me Posted December 31, 2004 Posted December 31, 2004 Oh, I do that all the time, searching for Pit Bulls and Akitas in michigan and surrounding states. I drool, sigh, and whine a lot. Then one day a couple months ago I went National in my adult male Pit Bull search and found him: Wedge Dog Pit Bull Terrier Size: Medium Age: Adult Sex: Male I.D: Notes: Meet Wedge... He is a beautiful four year old APBT. We think one of the most endearing things about Wedge is the white socks he wears! He sure would enjoy some love, affection and friendship in his life. If you can offer this, please consider meeting this handsome boy! For more information on Wedge or others please call K-9 B.R.A.T.S at (410)635-2953. This pet is: up to date with routine shots, already house trained, altered http://www.petfinder.com/pet.cgi?action=2&pet=885539 I always thought I'd prefer a brindle/white pit, or else a chocolate/white one, but I saw this guy and died. He's the right age, too. It just doesn't say if he's good with cats, and I can't bring myself to ask because a) I don't want to show interest in a dog that I most likely cannot have and b) if he is, I'll be twice as stressed wanting him. If I just had my own place... and transport from Baltimore... sigh. Quote
__crazy_canine__ Posted December 31, 2004 Author Posted December 31, 2004 Heh heh, sorry Tammy! Mutts, you sound like me, lol. I, too, "drool, sigh and whine a lot." Thats a handsome boy! Speaking of handsome... another dog I fell in love with but is too far away is Handsome. He mightve been mentioned on here before but Im not sure. Handsome Dog Presa Canario,American Staffordshire Terrier Mix Size: Large Age: Young Sex: Male I.D: Notes: The ladies love me, particularly my foster mom. I'm handsome and well behaved. Handsome is housetrained and responds well to commands such as no, come, and sit; needs leash training. Would do best as an only dog or with another calm good-tempered dog. Would do best in a home without cats. A great dog! 2 years; 65 pounds; he looks like a down-sized Presa Canario. Great coloration -- brindle (red/black) with white on his chest and toes; cropped ears and tail. Handsome's adoption fee is $225; he is young, healthy, neutered, current on vaccinations and microchip-ided. Handsome's former owner was no longer able to care for him due to a change in living circumstances. Quote

Guest Mutts4Me Posted January 1, 2005 Posted January 1, 2005 Awww, Handsome looks amazing!!! At this point, after the whole WEDGE thing, I've resolved to stop my self-torture on Petfinder. I don't know how long it will last (I'm sure not long enough), but I've got to try. I think about him way too much for a dog I can't have for numerous reasons, including the "across the country" one :-? So I haven't done my APBT/Akita search in about a month and just use Petfinder for other people. Sigh. Quote

I have 7 dogs and 3 cats, one of those dogs being a pit bull terrier. He doesn't get along with 4 of my dogs and he wants to eat my cats. but i just do the shuffle and we all live happily Quote
