my sisters boyfriend(jake) and his brother were moving all of my sisters stuff into the apartment today(apartment is attached to our house) so they are in the backyard and see all of my doggies...

jake's brother says "will that german shepherd bite?"
i'm for a second, i'm thinking "german shepherd? where?? wtf?" and then i realize he's talking about sheeba..so i was like uh no none of them bite..
but i just thought..umm...yea..lol...i guess she somewhat, tiny bit looks like a gsd??(not really  )
but anywayz.

then he goes "is that a pit?" (talking about eli)
i'm like yea.
so he's like,"he's a pretty pit!"
why thank you!(big smile on my face)
but then he's like "what kind of pit"
i was like huh??
and so he askes jake "what kind of pit"
jake goes "he's brindle pit and something else"
me-
i was just like..uh yea...i dunno...
ROFL.
while i'm really thinking "there is only ONE KIND of pit! and that's APBT!

and then this kids girlfriend goes "who's brown and black dog is that"
so i look around to see if there is a dog in the alley or something..nope..
lol she was talking about Keesha!
well she's mine i'd hope ROFL considering she is sitting in my yard!

but they are all nice people..but it gave me a good laugh!! ROFL

Don't hit me.

But, is Sheeba definitely an Akita/Chow mix, or is that a "best guess" kind of thing?

I was looking at her Dogster page after I read this post, and I'm just curious. She has shorter hair than either a chow or an akita, and her tail doesn't c-u-r-l (can't type that word) over her back like either breed (at least not in those pictures), and I'd be more inclined to think she was an akita/GSD type mix, myself. But she's your dog and I don't want to suggest I know better than you... just wondering if her previous owners told you the mix for sure or not?

i know!!

I think she looks like a Shiba too!!

that is actually how she got her name!! hehe.
When i first found her, i immediately thought she looked like a Shiba Inu, so i named her sheeba.
but then i was told she looked more like an akita.
so who knows LOL.

Yeah, her face is total Japanese dog ;)

The "real" Japanese Akitas are actually much like big Shiba Inus, and they are (or were) considered the same dog, just different sizes. I like the Americanized Akitas, myself, because I love pinto patterns and the bigger, stockier body shape.

Holy crap, Gigi, how big is Kenzo? I could totally see getting a Shiba if I could find one that big!

Yeah, all the Shibas I've met (not too many, but a few) have been tiny little things, at least by my standards ;)

As for the Japanese v. American Akitas, Kiger sent me this once when I was asking her about Shibas/Akitas:

Oh, but it was a fun way to kill a topic, at least

all of the pups are beatiful, and thats a really nice Christmas picture.

but back to the topic (  ) to someone that didnt know dogs,
Sheeba could look a little like a shepherd, with the coloring and size.
Before Pit's became America's Most Wanted, "Shepherd Looking" dogs were the frontpage news, and the same as the Pit's, they usually either weren't, or were mixes of something. I feel very old. I have gone through
4 decades of watching certain breeds of dogs get slammed, because of bad breeding, bad owners, and bad media.....I was a kid when Shepherds were the ones being slammed....

Everyone thinks Free is a Lab. and yes, she looks like one to the untrained eye, but is definitely not pure. my estimation of her breed(s) is best guess as well...
