Remember her?

http://forum.dogomania.com/viewtopic.php?t=16112

Found her just under a month sgo, and things have been okay since then. On Halloween, a group of kidss came to our house and said "You're the ones who found our puppy!" I said she was sweet, and they said "Yeah, but she bit my cousin the other day. She was just playing." And I was worried, but I've seen Moody since then while walking Sasha. She prances along the fence and watches us.

Well, in the past few days, Moody's been escaping. She comes over our house, barks at the stray cats, and eats their food. I always grab her and walk her home. The first time, she was so excited to see me she peed all over my front porch. When i took her home, I opened the gate and let her in, figuring it was a fluke. Well, a couple hours later, she was back. This time, her owner saw me bring her home.

Today I took her home twice. The second time, the owner said "I've been over that fence five times and can't figure out how she gets out. She's going to the pound tonight."

I'm distraught. I like the pup, and MAN is she a looker. Can't have her, and I can't even keep her temporarily since the crate is being used by our feral kittens. I was so stunned when he told me I just said "Oh." What do you tell a guy who thinks it's okay to dump his dog at the pound?? I don't even know what the AC's policy is for owner surrenders... they might not have to keep them the 7 days they keep strays...

This sucks. It seems no one around me knows how to take care of their puppies. Dogs. Cats. Ugh.

I don't know.

I don't know what happened. I went by this morning to see if she was there, and their gate was open... So either the dog is tied out, in the house, in the garage, or gone.

I really, really do not like that man. From the moment we met, where he was mowing his lawn instead of being concerned about his missing puppy, to the minute he very calmly told me he was taking her to the pound.

Doberfanatic, if I had been given notice on this, I would have tried to get in contact with a rescue (actually, I'd tried the MI rescue page before but could never get past the intro) to arrange for something, but he said she was going tonight, and now I don't see her. We were kind of hoping he said it in the heat of the moment...

I'm honestly helpless right now. I CANNOT take that dog in, even for a short amount of time, because we have no crate at this point, and my dog does not like other females. Even if I could get ahold of her, I'd be afriad to drive anywhere with her. I have a tiny car that couldn't hold a crate (if I had a crate to spare), and the dog's a maniac - would probably fly all over my car, if not pee all over it.

I seriously wish I had time to plan this. I'm most likely going to IL tomorrow anway (to see one of "my" tigers at a fundraiser near Chicago) and maybe could have arranged something :(

What should I do?

Do I go knock on the guy's door and be like, "excuse me, but did you decide to sentence your dog to death after all, or she she around here somewhere?"

I called the AC and they don't keep a record of what dogs were brought in, so you have to go look yourself (I should've known that, we had to do the same thing for Sasha). Today was a very busy day (we homed a kitten, among other things! WooHoo!), and they're not open on the weekend. I guess if I don't see Moody this weekend, I can go out to the AC Monday and see if she's there.

Should I contact the Dobe rescues before I know what's going on???

ARGHHH!!!!

I'm so frickin sick of people. While I'm busy stressing over the Dobe x puppy across the street, the Rottweiler x puppy next door (That's left tied to the garage most of everyday) gets loose because it has no collar and the stupid people looped the cable around its neck like a noose. So I'm chasing it out of our yard and (fruitlessly) retying it, then panicking about it running away or getting hit, then chasing it back out of our yard, not able to let my dog out, searching for an old collar, not finding one, and finally giving up. Luckily, the puppy is okay. They either found it or else he waited for them to home home in his yard.

No one knows how to take care of their animals around here.

You know what? 2nd Chance Dobes is going to be at the giagantic Pet Expo I'm going to tomorrow. My friend cancelled on me for Chicago :( But I kinda wanted to go to the Pet Expo, so here's my chance. I'll see if I can't talk to anyone there.
