So we've decided to get another dog...

Well after a whole lot of debating about breeds and much whining and cajoling on my part, DH and I have decided on which breed of dog we want next. We've settled on the Cane Corso. It won't be for another year or two but we've already started researching, and consulting with breeders :D

I'll ALWAYS have Boxers (in my eyes they are the perfect dog) but we've been talking for awhile about adding another breed to the family. I've always been a huge fan of mastiffs and the Corso seems like the best fit for us (we also considered the Bullmastiff and the Neo).

Anyhoo, any input or knowledge anyone has about this breed would be much appreciated...as I said, we won't be ready for a pup for another year or two but I'd like to be well prepared when the time comes!

:lol: ...My advice?...tell him you want a HORSE...then negotiate DOWN to a mastiff, It'll seem like a *bargain* then :wink:

LOL K...thinking of knocking out a wall or two in the new house? :wink: Dosa's are gorgeous too, although they seem to be even less common around here than the Cane Corso. We opted for the Corso because its a little smaller and a little less 'jowly' than the Neo or the Dosa.
I'm keeping an eye on http://www.canecorsorescue.org , to see what comes available. They don't seem to have a lot of CC's coming into rescue, but I expect that'll change now that their popularity has started to take off ...the BYB'ers will be churning them out in droves I'm sure :x . I'm still thinking a pup might be the better way to go though, since they are such a dominant breed, I'd like to be able to socialize and establish who's boss BEFORE he/she outweighs me :o

You will want to really look into lines and breeders before you buy, and start socialising the day you get it home. The last thing you want is a big dog bashing up on your darling Boxers! They are the perfect breed aren't they? I can't live without one, I'm hoping to get another one in just under two years (though I will probably get all needy and get one at around May or June next year!).

:lol: That's what I thought too! I think its just a "took the picture at the right moment" kind of pic. The smaller dog must have been looking into the bigger dogs mouth or something when the owner snapped the picture. Scared the heck out of me at first!
