Zebra just ate an entire Ketsup packet. The little ones that you get from the fast food places that are kind of a plastic covered foil. :o What do I do?! It's 10:00 pm here and all the vets are closed. Will he pass it? SOMEONE HELP! Kat, DO! Anyone. :-?

Just keep an eye on him and wait for it to pass through. If you don't see it come out the other end in the next 24 hours or so then I would call the vet.

That is all the vet would tell you. If you took him to the vet now there is nothing they can do anyway. They'll only X-ray and then operate if they are positive there is an obstruction.

I remember the first time Indy ate a plastic sandwich bag - I totally freaked and called the vet. All they did was tell me to wait till it passed through..... and it did.

Thanks..I feel a little less worried now. I tend to freak out when he gets into things. I'm gunna check his poo in the morning...that should be fun. :-?

Star sorry I've only just come back from the dog school! If he ate the foil and all then the chances are that Zebra will pass it all ok. There are no sharp edges to rupture any internal organs along the digestive tract. So my advice: Get a stick and every time that Zebra poops, have a good hoke around. If he shows any signs of lethargy or loss of appetite, abdomen guarding (where his tummy is hunched up and he has a bowed head) then straight to the vets. If also he hasn't passed it within 24-36 hours you may be safer taking him to a vets, but I honestly think he will pass it ok.

Eh well Zebra has had diarrea all day. He woke me up at 6 this morning while he was trying to get out of his crate. He went the bathroom 6 times in a 10 hour period. I've checked everythiing but don't see any evidence of the ketsup pack. He is active and happy so I'm not too worried. I'm sure sick of picking threw poo though. :-?

Aww poor Zebra. I would imagine that its the ketchup giving him a jippy tummy rather than the foil. Give him the rest of today and if you still don't see any sign of the foil then you may be better taking him to the vet for a quick check up.
