courtnek Posted October 29, 2004 Posted October 29, 2004 what would cause Push to lose his voice??? He cant seem to meow, it comes out like an almost unheard sqwack....he seems fine, he's eating, purring when I pick him up. He was meowing this morning, and now he cant... :o :o :o Quote
ObedienceGrrl Posted October 29, 2004 Posted October 29, 2004 My Harley has a 'strange' meow. I call her my 3 pack a day smoker. It is so gravely and raspy. Well, one day I came home and she started talking (like she always does) and it sounded NORMAL!!! Just like a normal cat. She did this for about an hour....then went back to her regular meow. My husband even scooped her up when he came home and was worried....and he can't stand her meow! He say's it obnoxious. She puts a Siamese to shame..... I guess I didn't answer your question......but our Ace has the same thing happen to him as well. He'll be fine....then all of a sudden, nothing. Not sure.....but I've had it happen before if that makes you feel better! Quote
kendalyn Posted October 30, 2004 Posted October 30, 2004 hmmm, that's strange. I'd just watch him closely since he seems OK otherwise. Quote
ESSlover Posted October 30, 2004 Posted October 30, 2004 Obgirl! My friend has a cat that does that! Its like "meeechklslfdkjfae" we call him the retarted meower lol  Quote
imported_Debbie Posted October 30, 2004 Posted October 30, 2004 :o I don't suppose you have any horses around ??? I had a cat (long ago....) that couldn't meow because she was stepped/kicked by a horse. The barn owner gave her to me to keep her safe. She was a great little cat....she also didn't grow, she stayed little. Quote
imported_Kat Posted October 30, 2004 Posted October 30, 2004 Keep an eye on her as it can be the first sign that all is not well. She may have a polyp on or near her larynx, so of course in any doubt its a trip to the vet! Quote
courtnek Posted October 30, 2004 Author Posted October 30, 2004 thanks everybody. he seems better today. He's meowing, although not as loud or "hearty" as usual (I think he's part Siamese, he's quite a talker) but he doesnt seem sick or depressed or anything. He's laying on the floor by me washing himself right now. Nothing out of the ordinary....I tend to panic a little about him cuz he's 16 years old now.... :fadein: no, no horses. I had one when I was a teenager, who kicked my Golden cuz he got too close....he appeared totally unharmed, and my mom said that was cuz he was such a thick-headed dog.... Quote
mouseatthebusstop Posted October 30, 2004 Posted October 30, 2004 I am pleased she is on the mend Quote
