Guest Mutts4Me Posted October 18, 2004 Posted October 18, 2004 Anyone watch it? I don't ever watch the trials, so I don't know how coverage works. But I was flipping through and the trial they were broadcasting was about a man who KILLED A PUPPY by KICKING it across the street. The dogs' owner was an irresponsible pet owner, letting his Westie do his business in the neighbors' yards for years, and then he got a little Yorkie pup. He took them for walks without a leash, and one of his neighbors always complained about his dogs. So one day, the man storms out and KICKS the 6 pound Yorkie pupp hard enough to send it flying across the street. It suffered internal injuries and died shortly thereafter. So the puppy kicker was charged with animal abuse, and that was the trial. Coverage is here: http://www.courttv.com/trials/peebler/verdict_ctv.html It's an old trial, but they were playing it and the commentary (they stop now and then for correspondents to discuss the trial) with LIVE in the corner. Odd. Even odder was when a witness described the Puppy Kicker as yelling "Geting your f-ing dogs outta here!" without bleeping out "f-ing" (the first time. When they recapped that witness later, they bleeped it)! What the heck! It's basic cable, not HBO. Ohhh, and god forbid we discuss dogs without the obligatory flame. One commentator asked the visiting psychologist why people got so upset when an animal was harmed, and Dr. Robi Ludwig says "Well, pets are like babies in that they're virtually helples and don't have the ability to defend themselves, unless it's a PIT BULL." &$%#!!! Maybe Dr. Ludwig needs to watch that "Pit Bull Problem" video and see just how well Pit Bulls are able to defend themselves. I can't find contact info for Dr. Robi Ludwig, but I'm thinking about taking my revenge by complaining to the FCC for the vulgar language. Real mature, but oh well  Quote
courtnek Posted October 19, 2004 Posted October 19, 2004 ALL dogs are capable of defending themselves, they all have teeth. Whether that defense will meet with success depends alot on the size and temperament of the dog. Dogs love us. The majority would probably not try to defend. They dont expect (unless already accustomed to it) to be hurt by people. The commentator was an idiot, considering the history of Pit's. They were BRED to not defend themselves from a human. Quote
StarFox Posted October 19, 2004 Posted October 19, 2004 What an arse! See there is this thing called animal control..he should have called. But no instead he kills the dog. :x Uh I can't believe he was found not guilty...guess that just tells people that if a dog is on your property you can just kill it for whatever reason. Quote
Cairn6 Posted October 19, 2004 Posted October 19, 2004 Oh God just the thought of that poor puppy being kicked across the street. That is just horrible. Quote
Cairn6 Posted October 20, 2004 Posted October 20, 2004 There is just one problem with your solution K I am not so sure I want him "humanely" put to sleep. :x Quote
