Chocolate and Zebra is not a good thing

First let me say-Uh what a day!

Today was Zebs vet appointment to get his vaccinations. No biggie he LOVES the vet and I like taking him there because he gets to meet new people and dogs. So we get to the vet and all goes well, he is in good health, great teeth, eyes, etc. EXCEPT that he is overweight..allot more then I would have ever guessed. He is at 92 lbs!!!! :o :oops: :cry: I almost started to cry when they weighed him. I feel so bad that he is that fat! I feel like such a bad mom, I should know better then to let him get like this. So he started on a diet today, he gets NO treats, food, scraps, and what ever else, unless I know about it or else heads will roll. See my dad tends to give Zeb his sandwiches that he dosn't eat for lunch. :x :roll: Also since he is getting older his metabolisim is slowing down. And the worst part of it all is that I have been neglecting to take zebra out for his regular walks/play time since I've been so busy the last 2 weeks. :cry:

Our vet had commented on how smart and well behaved Zebra was....HA! Zebra proved him wrong.......

Tonight Zebra decided to jump up on the table and take something that looked good to eat....Chocolate. No and of course not ANY chocolate...but Dark chocolate that is 60% cocoa! :o Of course I can't blaim zebra for getting on the table since someone (my brother) had left the open bar of chocolate on the edge of the table. :nono: :wallbash:

So I call the vet to ask if I should induce vomiting and they tell me to bring him down right away since he ate such a large amount. So off to the vets we go again! They take him and tell us to come back in a hour because they have to induce vomiting and they want to keep an eye on him. Well he walks off and a few mins later I hear this horrible cry and it sounded exactly like Zebra. I started to cry. :cry: :oops: So I left and worried for the next hour. When I came back and they brought him out he looked so sick and sad. :( He was tired after all of that and slept allot but is now back to his old self. :D Oh by the way the "cry" that I heard wasn't Zebra after all, it was another dog..so I was upset over nothing. :oops:

Sheesh this dog stresses me out!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yikes poor you and Zebra! What a day you have had together. Good luck with his diet and hope he feels better soon. I wouldn't have thught that he would have been near 92 lbs from seeing his photos! Thats just under 20lbs from what my weight is, so I'm really surprised, but just be strict and you will get the weight off no problem. Lots of brisk walking too :wink:
