I just got my 2nd dog!!His name is Cookie & he's a shih tzu.We changed the name from DJ to Cookie, since we had a dog named Cookie & kept her tag, instead of wasting more money, just give the dog the same name as the old dog & but on the tag.Today we are buying all the supplies, collar, leash, toys, treats & then take him to the groomers because he's matted in some places, but he loves to cuddle & is so soft & playful. Then on Saturday he's going to the dog park along with Didi for the 1st time. Then next week he's going to get his rabies shot & tag.of course when we buy the supplies we have to get some toys & treats for Didi & the birds too, won't want them to be left out!!Pictures Comming Soon!! :D

Congrats on the new addition..but may I suggest holding off on the dog park until you get those vac's.....How old is cookie btw ?

Again congrats

I agree with scotty lvr's advice and I would put the dog park on hold until you have all of the dogs vaccinations.

Well sorry to be the only one not congradulating you for getting ANOTHER dog. But what happened to the last Cookie? Oh that's right the dog was teething so you gave her up. How long will this one last?

Sorry, but frankly you should NOT be getting another dog when you ABANDONED your last one because she was a puppy doing normal puppy things.

okay i would hold off the dog park until the vaccines, thanks for the advice

well yeah, but it wasn't my decision 100%,my mom had the idea of the shetler,if it were my decision i would find a loving home for cookie the 1st,plus it was much larger type of puppy.i was wrong that i didn't train it enough & just gave up on it,but atleast its in a loving home now,I found out from the shetler's website.

Thanks everyone for the congrats!!cookie is here running amok with didi in the room, having a good time.

Cookie is enrolled in Puppy Class at Petsmart,is doing pretty good in his potty training, one accident so far,and no teething, the previous owner took care of that,I'm still going to buy him some kong toys & rawhide incase it comes back as a habit, its a couple of months old so I'm sure his teeth are hurting, which is strange since it hasn't biting any furniture or human yet.

sorry let me rephrase that ''she'',i'm getting confused here since, the first cookie was a she,and the 2nd is a he.i think i'm going to call cookie the 2nd a she sooner or later, almost did in my last post lol.cookie the 1st was akita/gsd mix,she was 4months old when we got her and about 6 or 7 months old when she was taken to the shelter

well it must of been a mistake, she couldn't of been any younger than 3 months old,it was a large dog, bigger than a spaniel & i've never seen no 2 month old puppy that big.maybe you misread or i made a mistake.and i remember marking her 3 months old on march the 20th & we had her for about 3 months since we got her in march.i remember she was exactly 6 months old when surrendered, since my mom asked me how old was she.

OK I read through the old post, this is all pretty disturbing. Let me say the least that I feel I must say ...

Nae Nae I'm sure you're not the only one here who has made a bad desicion in the past (referring to adopting a puppy you couldn't handle then returning it to the shelter...) I do not want to judge that now, it's over.

What IS concerning me is that you still seem to have the attitude that pets are toys. You also seem pretty young (like a ten year old who's just a really good speller?) :evilbat: sorry I couldn't resist ... at any rate you apparently still live with your parents and maybe you got that attitude from them, I don't know... But what can you do to change it? Are you willing to work on that? I see your presence here as at least a positive step but I think you are going to hear some harsh things that are not all undserved ... but I do hope that you tough it out, stay here and learn. :fadein:

ok ya have been dog lovers since like forever.my friends think i'm weird on how much attention i give my dogs & how deeply i feel about them.they've helped me in situations from failing a test to getting raped.most of the dogs my friends & my community has are tied up in the back yard, and just are played with a couple hours a day, groomed once a moth, and fed everyday.they don't have dog ownership education like they have sex education in school or in society.you have to research that stuff.most people don't do that.my mother has been raised like every other person in my neighboorhood were the dog is kept outside leashed up.i've done my researched about outside dogs & unlike the rest, its strange to them, but i don't like it.they think a dog's place is outside.and the shelter as they advertise here in all these animal planet shows is the only place to take an animal when it could be no longer be taken care of.my neighboorhood isn't like yours.a dog bites someone, and people don't even take it to the pound, they shoot it,thats the sad reality.so the shelter was really the safest place for cookie,if i gave it away to someone & it had biten someone, without their knowledge of teething,I don't know what could of happen to her.its hard to find a ''lovely home'' around here,so thats why i agreed with my mom, even though i wanted to keep her & took her to the shelter.

Okay so last two things, I'm not trying to be harsh but Nookie inforces the
stereotype that teenages cannot be responsible for pets and whatever happens to those animals is not their fault. I am the same age as Nookie. But the point is no matter if she IS a teeneger Nookie is responsible for this dogs life now.

I'm sorry but reading through that previous post leads me to believe that you are either lying (like we have seen before on Dogo) or you are an extremely bad irresponsible owner who neglects your pets. Surrendering a puppy of 3 months old for biting? Now come on! Either come clean or leave. Your stories are full of holes and contradictory information, and on that note I am not wasting any more of my time and going to bed. We can easily detect liars here on Dogo.

LC you're right and I don't think you are being unduly harsh. The reality is right now she is responsible for this puppy and another dog (I am most concerned about the puppy) ... and I just hope that she stays here and learns how to do right by this puppy this time around. Although I wasn't here throught the first go-around and if I had been I may not be so generous ...

over the years i've learned about dogs

when i was 7-10 my first 3 dogs never had a collar,my first was an outside dog, they were never vaccine & never tooken to the vet,my mom didn't want to waste her money on vet bills if they weren't seriously sick & we had no knowledge in rabies tag since we just moved to the united states from dominican republic were all this bsl & enforced dog tags aren't even an issue, they didn't even eat dog kibble, they ate human food.until i got my 4th dog (current dog) i was 11 & started having responsiblity in dog ownership.

excuse me where are you getting i surrendered a dog at 3months,i got the dog at three months, and surrendered it at 6months,yes its still a young pup & i didn't give it a chance.you don't have to believe me,its your belief, but there are people that surrender their pets to shelters because of behavior issues,in this case teething, which i learned wasn't even a reason why to give a dog up.but 90% of the dogs in the pounds are surrender because of behavior issues, thats the truth.
