Hey DAL, you know I jsut went through having all the pups here and tons of stains - Folex seemed to work really well, its in a big round white bottle with purple writing found it at target, walmart, grocery stores.....
the thing I liked was that the stains dont seem to "come back" which is the problem I always have (they look gone when I clean them and then somehow reappear!)
I have also heard alot of people here talk about "natures miracle" I think - but not sure if thats stains or jsut odors?

Dal, natures miracle rocks! Carson sometimes won't let us know when he needs to go, so we have used it a couple times. It can get out the odor and the spot. Even can get out the smell of cat pee :o

We have a bissel green machine, and it is great. I like it because it actually sucks the stain ( and mess ) out of the carpet. They have a pet formula, and we have always been very happy with it. I think the machine is about $100 , but well worth every penny.

I like the Nature's Miracle....and it doesn't smell....well....like a cleaning product. It's not offensive or anything.

I have never heard of Folex but it sounds worth looking into! Especially with everyone here. Someone is always barfing on the carpet or something else......

As a preventative measure, they make these things called belly bands that pretty much act as a diaper for the boy dogs. http://mall.cairnrescue.com/inv_bellyband.htm There is an example there and I think you can get them from various pet supply catalog, or even make your own. And they come in a variety of colors/patterns. ANOTHER FASHION ACCESSORY!! They give a pretty good description of training with the band on that page.

Oh sheesh, DAL.....but sometimes they just don't.

I know....I don't mean to be a downer....but.....

Tater's foster mom has a dominant male maltese. He's 4 pounds but thinks he's about 200. His house marking is controlled until she brings in a new foster....then it starts all over again. Or if something is going on outside that he feels he needs to be a part of. She said that he and Tater had marking contests. Her Maltese started it, and Tater just finished. So I hope in a house where there is no marking inside, he'll continue to just take it outside with the boys.

I'm just giving you one side.....not by all means what is happening with Boonie!

lol no one has ever marked in side our house before Boonie.. we've had Boonie, Cody and Zoey.. no more... no less. .lol cody wont lift his leg to pee let alone mark.. boonie just does it with out even thinking about it i think. he wont tell me wh en he has to go out eaither so we are gonna start the bell on the door.. although i'm not sure how long that will take as i've been working with him since saturday on sit and it still hasn't clicked in his head yet

I didn't even realize you could BUY belly bands! :o

I've used them (homemade  ) on some elderly incontinent dogs in the past (one was a little ol' dilapidated Yorkie, DivOb  ). They work wonderfully. Of course, it's treating the symptom and is not the cure, but it sure can make life much easier until you find that "cure."

Good luck! 8)

Nautres miracle didn't work. the stains are still there :(

hey dal no advice i am still trying to find out how to get rid of kool aid stains....let me know if the folex works....be careful with the steamcleaning remember the guy said it would leave a bald spot if you do it too much and i know you and your compulsive steam cleaning....:)

What is Folex and where do you get it ??
I've used that Spot Shot and while it does a good job cleaning the carpet, it has a really intense chemical odor......my hubby is very nose sensitive about strong smells and he hates it.......
I've also used Resolve and the new Resolve Triple Action......have you seen the commercial where the cleaning lady takes out the old ink spot on the carpet from Thomas Jefferson or something ??? Well I tried it on an old ink spot and the ink spot is still there.......the ink is now actually brighter than it was before and the beige carpet around it looks like white rings............ :o

I like the resolve products also, but have had problems with the stains "reappearing" and it doesnt seem to happen as much with folex - you can get folex pretty much anywhere - at the grocery store, target, etc....... a big white bottle with purple writing

For what it's worth, I use some stuff called Equalizer. I've never seen it anywhere but at my vet's office (so I don't know who all carries it), but it will take out bloody diarrhea that's been simmering on the floor all day until some unfortunate soul comes home to it. That's about as brutal a test as I've given it. It does smell kind of chemical-ish for a few minutes (but doesn't have a "bad" smell, at least to me), but it dries pretty quickly and the smell goes away.

Thanks to Equalizer, my 7ish year old carpet still looks like new despite the numerous fosters and permanent residents here and the, errrr, unfortunate mishaps (pee, poo, puke, blood, or a combination of these). However, I can only imagine what the UNDERside of my carpets look like. I'm afraid when we take it up (which will hopefully be soon), we'll have to haul it away in the middle of the night out of shame. It'll probably look like refuse from a crime scene or a wh*re house. Oh well, the top still looks good.
