BuddysMom Posted September 27, 2004 Posted September 27, 2004 Well I have been with Dogo about a month now and have to say you guys have helped me in many ways, but especially to completely change my mind about Pitties. Ashamed to say I was very prejudiced against them just a few short weeks ago (and me being a lifetime dog person!) I just believed the media and hearsay. After reading the threads and looking at the APBT pictures here at dogo, and looking at a book on them at Barnes & Noble, I now know they are a stunningly beautiful, intelligent and lion hearted breed. I also was guilty of assuming that most APBT enthusiasts were up to no good. Now I realize that those who abuse them by fighting, byb etc. are a minority and the majority of their owners are just like me ... loving their dogs like crazy. Anyway, thanks guys. Guest Anonymous Posted October 6, 2004 Posted October 6, 2004 Hallelujah! haha and desertlady understand that there are good dogs and dogs that are bad due to various reasons usually resulting from abuse...so don't just assume all dogs or pit bulls are good dogs. Easiest way to tell a good dog from a dog that may try to cause you harm...look at the owners blah blah blah people may criticize me for saying that but it is true...and I do not only mean what the owners looks like or how they are dressed, but watch how they interact with the dog for a few moments and it will be easy to see. Liz Posted October 6, 2004 Posted October 6, 2004 Awww Blitz is a doll face!!!! hehe. Before I got Bogart and started reading up on dogs, I felt the same way about pit bulls as you did. In fact, my boyfriend at the time wanted to get an American Staffordshire Terrier, but when I read they are similar to pit bulls I thought it was better to not get one of those. I always heard pit bulls were mean and aggressive, blah, blah, but I wouldn't have even recognized a pit bull if it were right in my face. Quite honestly, I don't think many people would actually recognize one. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted October 8, 2004 Posted October 8, 2004 hi, this is my first post *waves* i too never understood the phenomenom that is the apbt, and swore that i would never own one... even being a 'vicious' ( :roll: ) dog owner myself, having rotties, dobes and GSDs all my life. but soon i'll be moving into my own doggy friendly place and am looking to get a pup of my own, in doing my research on english bull terriers for my boyfriend, i came across the apbt and this forum which i have lurked around quite a bit... and i have to say, all you wonderful pitty people have certainly swayed me. and i know, when i am ready to have my very own dog, it will be an american pit bull terrier. and i've already started educating the public without even having my first pitty! this place is great, and responsible pit owners are the best.
