Seijun Posted September 24, 2004 Posted September 24, 2004 Anything specific? As a rule though, you should never leave any dog (large or small) alone with a baby unless you are ABSOLUTELY SURE that the dog will not hurt the baby in any way. ~Seij Quote

You can never be absolutely sure that a dog and baby will be safe together unsupervised. Never leave a baby alone with a dog. Jesspitt, I think we need more information to answer your question. Quote
imported_Kat Posted September 24, 2004 Posted September 24, 2004 If its a new baby then do gradual introductions. Always supervise the dog and kid and never evr leave a dog and baby alone no matter how certain you are of your dogs temperament. Don't let the dog sleep in the same room as the baby either and make sure that the dog doesn't get ignored and give him some free time away from the baby. The baby is a higher member in your house than the dog therefore feed the baby before the dog if they are fed in the same room, (i.e. kitchen). Thats just a few points quickly but if you need anything specific give s a howl. Quote
3ofakind Posted September 24, 2004 Posted September 24, 2004 If the baby is not born yet play a tape of a baby crying so the dog gets used to the noise, and get out all the toys (rattles etc) and play with them to get the dog used to those noises. Carry around a baby doll and pretend to take of it like a real baby occassionally to introduce them to the concept. Once baby is born, take home something that smells like the baby before taking the baby home. When you go home, be sure to greet the dog without the baby (especially the mother) first. Give the dog time to settle and relax before introducing the baby for the first time. And just because it can't be stressed enough......NEVER leave them unattended!! Quote
