Hi, I sure hope you all can help or give me some advice. My puppy had diarrhea and was vomitting 2 days ago, so I called the vet. They told me not to feed her that evening, and to call in the morning with her results from no food. I didn't feed her, and she didn't have any problems that night or the next morning. The vet told me to start working a little bit of rice into her diet, so I did that yesterday and she still has not had any problems. However, now she is not going poop at all..she hasn't gone in 36 hours. Is this normal? I mean, I thought yesterday maybe her body was still digesting the rice, but I'm really starting to get worried today. Thanks for your help.

Yeah, she has had her stool checked and is up to date on all of her vaccinations. I called the vet and they said to give it till tonight because sometimes when you switch the puppy to the bland rice diet it might take them a day or so to digest it. I'm supposed to call them back tonight. I just feel so bad for her. It's hard because they can't tell you what's wrong, so you have to be very observant. Luckily she is acting like her normal self.

mfaust, since you said you are feeding science diet, here's a link that might be interesting for you:

SD is a popular brand that a lot of people buy because they want to do the best for their pets, but sadly it's overpriced crap. it makes me angry how hill's sucker in people with clever advertising but their products don't deliver. "science fiction" would be a better name.

Thank you for the suggestion. I think my husband and I will go pick her up some new food tonight. I looked at the ingredients..and saw exactly what you were talking about. We were only trying to give her good healthy food. She did finally go. *Huge sigh of relief* Thanks for all of your help.
