Taurus and Jada Posted August 11, 2004 Posted August 11, 2004 Ok.. firstly, I am a terrible mother. I was outside playing with Jada, and we were playing fetch with her tennis ball which is attached to a bungee cord thing.... I ussually wind it up (like swing my arm) and throw it for her to go fetch. Well She ran right up to me as I was about to let go of it, and it smaked her square in the eye! I feel so bad.... she is opening her eye a bit more now (this happened about 30 mins ago), but not alot. Her eye is really swollen, and bloodshot and bloody... I called the emergency vet and asked if I should bring her in. He told me to giver her 2 asperins and to put a bag of frozen peas (wrapped in a towel) on the eye. My question is: How the heck do I put the ice (or peas) on her eye? She won't sit still... Is this a huge deal if I can't get her to sit still for me? Any suggestions? Thanks, Kara Quote
sarahmyjoy Posted August 11, 2004 Posted August 11, 2004 If you sit down can you get her to lay her head down next to you or on your lap where you could put the frozen peas on her head and just sit there and rub her and Ice her booboo? Maybe??? I hope Jada feels better soon. Im sure she will be just fine Quote
courtnek Posted August 11, 2004 Posted August 11, 2004 sit on the floor with her, and have her put her head in your lap. talk slow and soothing. put the peas on her eye, and tell her what a good girl she is in soft, soothing tones. dont get angry if she gets up, just call her back and try again. Guest Anonymous Posted August 11, 2004 Posted August 11, 2004 can't add any more then what's already been suggested... hope she is feeling better soon! It's not your fault! it was an accident! Quote
Carolk9s Posted August 11, 2004 Posted August 11, 2004 Poor Jada! Poor Kara! Please dont beat yourself up, it was an ACCIDENT! I have poked my dogs in the eyes more times than I can count. They still love me. I think the idea of getting Jada to lie down with you and put her head in your lap is your best shot at putting the frozen pack over her eye. Hope you are both feeling better today! Quote
Shenanigans Posted August 11, 2004 Posted August 11, 2004 Don't feel too terrible. Dogs know when it's an accident. I have clobbered my dogs with toys, boxes, the clothes hamper you name it accidently hundreds of times (they live with a very clumsy mummy) and they just shake it off and are ready for the "I'm so sorry" hugs. On the other hand, they have clobbered me thousands of times, and I don't get hugs. Hmph! Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted August 11, 2004 Posted August 11, 2004 How is Jada this morning? Poor baby I hope she is feeling better. Quote
Taurus and Jada Posted August 12, 2004 Author Posted August 12, 2004 Well Jada is still very sore today, but she is better. I was able to take her to work with me this morning to keep an eye on her, and she seemed okay, other then the fact that she layed there the whole time... which is not like her at all... she is very nosey ussually!
