FROM THE CAT!! PushyCat has taken a liking to Laurel. probably because shes so gentle, and doesnt bug him. both of them give way to Pushy, he rules the roost and that will not change. So Pushy was drinking from the water bowl (I have THREE bowls, they all insist on drinking from this one)
and Laurel, although she has her own bowl, was waiting her turn behind Pushy. Freebee, not to be left out, came up and tried to push Laurel out of the way and "cut in line".... Pushy nailed her. Bit her on the nose, and hissed her (this cat is a sight to see when he's pissed) OUT OF THE ROOM.
then stood "guard" while Laurel drank her fill. When she was done, Pushy raised his tail, lowered his fur, and simply pranced out of the room, allowing Free to drink (I dont think she was even thirsty, just wanted to get ahead of Laurel).

I cant see, I am laughing so hard....

Oh Free, WHEN will you learn?

oh Free's fine. just a nip reminder to keep her place. you have to understand Free, and why I think it's so funny. she is so FULL of herself.
pompous, demanding, stands there looking like no one can touch her, then she gets whooped by the cat. she sets herself up for these things. she sulked for an hour afterwards, but wouldnt go near PushyCat. after all these years, she should know better. but no, not Free. She will always try to take every inch she can...

she wants to be QUEEN. no doubt about it. she'd be dangerous as a human....

in a pack, she would be alpha female. AND ORDERING THE PACK MALE ALPHA AROUND....

Free was "told" wasn't she.
My cats won't back down from my dogs either. One of my Cats Sassy takes pleasure in eating slowly in front of my dogs...I occasionally throw peices of hamburg or cheese down on the floor for my 3 cats and 6 dogs..Sassy will wait until all the other animals finish their treat then she will slowly eat hers making the treat seem sooooooo much more tasty. Even my rescue Beau will not try to grab the treat...all 6 of my dogs sit there staring at my Sassy while drooling like crazy. Its a site to behold.

I just think it's funny that your cat is alpha and plays favorites.

so do I. He's not so much "alpha" as he is "outta my way...."he rarely ever gets involved in their "doings", other than to demand to sleep somewhere they want to stand, like a warm windowsill. He generally ignores them. UNLESS they get in his space. Then he retaliates. He has never appeared to show favorites before. But Laurel leaves him alone (which is what he wants) where Freebee occasionally tries to start a spat.

She always loses, so I dont know what she's hoping to gain, but that's Free....Pushy will simply whoop on her and run for it before she can react.
He has his own room in the basement that they cant get into, because his food and litterbox are down there. He uses that to his escape advantage.

Yesterday was a first. I have never seen him do that before, but I have never seen them line up for the water bowl before either. I wonder what they do while I'm not here all day?
