Guest Anonymous Posted July 10, 2004 Posted July 10, 2004 Ok So Cody being deaf is ALWAYS finding weird places to tuck a way and sleep.. But lately since we've moved, at night time we lock the dogs in our bedroomw itha baby gate.. he normally ( in our old house ) u;sed to curl up on his doggy bed and go to sleep.. well now he sleeps on the floor dead center right in front of the baby gate... WHY ? Is he doing this to protect us ?or just wanting to be differnt.. lol it's not like the TV can keep him up at night... just curious.. any ideas?? Zoey on the other hand stretches her whole body out the length of my body pillow and sleeps on that, and not 1 par t of her touchs the floor.. i'll try to get a picture of her doing it.. it's hard since she can hear me. but i'll try.. it's quite funny!lol does your dog sleep in weird places/ possitions at night? StarFox Posted July 10, 2004 Posted July 10, 2004 Maybe cody sleeps in front of the door so he knows if someone is comming. Zeb dosn't realy sleep in werid places, but he does sleep anywhere that there is room for him. On the couch. Under the table on his pillow, in his crate, by the back door, in the middle of the floor. Quote
bk_blue Posted July 10, 2004 Posted July 10, 2004 The strangest place BK has ever slept in would be this tiny old banana/fruit cardboard box that was used for newspaper recycling. Dad was going to throw it out and my stepsister was like, "nooo you can't throw it out Blitz sleeps in it!!!" He just squashed himself up like Gumby or something and slept in this box. He has a perfectly good, clean bed and 2 kennels to choose from but for a while he just adored this box. He also likes to sunbake on the outside table when it's warm. :) Quote
sarahmyjoy Posted July 10, 2004 Posted July 10, 2004 Sarah likes to sleep under the bed now this may not seem so strange but she is 50lbs!! she turns on her side and slids under the bed. I got some pic ill have to load and post. Its too funny  Quote
courtnek Posted July 11, 2004 Posted July 11, 2004 My guess would be Cody is protecting you. New house, new scents, things he is not accustomed to yet, which is harder since he's deaf. All dogs act a little weird at first in a new house, till they become accustomed to the sounds, scents, layout. since he cant hear, perhaps it's just taking a little longer. gotta get all those new smells down now. Once he's comfy, he may very well go back to sleeping in his bed. but not til he feels everything is safe. Laurel wouldnt leave my side when I first brought her home (Free was brought up here) and wouldnt leave my room unless I did. She bonded to me quite quickly. and she would react to anything Free did that seemed like a warning, but instead of joining in the fray, she would stay closer to me than ever. I;m sure Cody will settle in eventually. Quote
MajiesMom Posted July 11, 2004 Posted July 11, 2004 Magic sleeps in my bed, her bed or on the couch at night. During the day she sleeps in hallway doorways so that she has view of multiple rooms. She is the kind of dog that has to see/know whats going on at all times or she goes mental. Quote

Taurus and Jada Posted July 12, 2004 Posted July 12, 2004 Mine don't sleep in really wierd spots... just wierd positions. One sleeps in the bed with us, and the other sleeps on their bed. They ussually take turns, and who ever climbs up there first with me while Im watching TV at night is the one that will sleep up there. Occasionally I will wake up in the morning to find that they both have crawled into bed with us. This is hard to do though, as we only have a double bed, and Im 130 lbs, Matts 220 lbs, Jada is 100 lbs, and Taurus is 75 lbs!!! Somehow we all do it though!!! Their favorite spot to sleep is the bed though.... Doesn't she look so comfortable??? Quote

Before when we had the double it was me at 130, hubby at 180, Bobbie at 50, Ariel 40, and Magoo at 75! Not to mention the cats. Now the biggest laugh is with Belle sleeping pushed right up next to me and Annie (Cat) sleeping on top of me. Quote

Mutt_Lady Posted July 12, 2004 Posted July 12, 2004 The strangest place K ever slept was in our cat's bed. She's about twice the size of it, yet won't give up on such a comfy, cozy bed. She is a big girl but always seems to feel she is a tiny little thing. The goof. Kyra in our old cat's bed as a pup: Conked out in the family room: She's not alseep yet here, but she was within 5 minutes. Quote
xavierandrea Posted July 12, 2004 Posted July 12, 2004 Free likes to take naps under the end table nad coffee table in the living room. Asim takes naps in front of the front door. Patti will sleep just about anywhere. Quote
