bald-headed breed

I saw a picture of a strange dog in an encyclopedia recently. The dog had a completely bald head and it looked quite ugly. I tried seerching for it on google but didn't have any luck.

Does anyone know the name of the breed or where I could get more info on them.

Thank you :drinking:

No. This one had hair on it's body. Only the head was hair-ridden.
This one looks pretty weird too : :o

A dog with hair on his body but not on his head?! :o This is the first time I've heard of something like that. Are you sure the head wasn't shaved?
Was it a puppy or an adult? American Hairless Terriers have hair when they are born but they shed the hair before 8 weeks when they are completely 100% hairless.
They usually have a dark face and a light spotty back.

It would help if you could show the pic but...

Did it have short or long hair? Was it a big or small dog? Long or short nose?

It might be a Chinese Crested who's face has been shaved or any of the other hairless dogs... Mexican Hairless, Peruvian Hairless, American Hairless Terrier...

These are my two:

...and Bella:

And it depends on the camera angle on how good they look on photos... ;-)

Wow! That's the weardest dog I've EVER seen (and I have two hairless dogs, so I know what I'm talking about )!

I've never even heard of a Mi-Ki. ...but they're not hairless (genetically), just shaved hairless from the head but I have no clue why. I mean... I understand hairless dogs because they're genetically hairless. Cresteds may have hair on their bodies but they're supposed to look hairless even though not shaved (like Bella).
Is the head shaved just for fun? Or is there some other reason? I can't see a reason either healthwise or any other why a dog's head would be shaved. The only reason I can come up with is looks and I think it's weird.

Spanish water dogs for example were shaved from their bottom and hind legs so that they could swim more easilly. I can understand that that has stuck by with the breed ever since, but shaving heads... That's a totally other ballgame.

Why?
