Guest Anonymous Posted July 2, 2004 Posted July 2, 2004 I thought those who enjoy reading on the history of dogs would like this site. "How to Determine the Standards of ASDs? ASDs are not show-dogs . The reader should understand that when they become show dogs one can no longer call them ASDs. One cannot keep one strain as show dogs and another as working dogs and refer to them as ASDs. It is a matter of balance. It is an all or nothing situation. In order to understand the true meaning of the ASDs , it is critical to appreciate; where they originally live; how they are handled and under what kind of circumstances they finally become ASDs. No one should stand forward and declare that ASDs are what he wants them to be. They are what they are. No one can change them on paper, with a group of so called experts. They come from deep ancient traditions of Anatolia and Central Asia. Individuals or organisations are not above traditions and practices. If there are still pure-bred ASDs in Anatolia, one must explain how this pure line in different parts of the country could have been kept in spite of the negative effects of unconscious, low level, uncontrolled natural selection, providing there is anything like pure-bred !(Discussed in the main text). Supervised breeding brings principles, and descriptions along with it. The dogs, which do not deserve to pass their genes to the next generation, do weaken the strain." It's one of the interesting sections. Quote
Lucky Chaos Posted July 2, 2004 Posted July 2, 2004 That is interesting and I agree with it. My aunt has one and she's georgous! Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted July 2, 2004 Posted July 2, 2004 Think you get a picture of her for me? I love ASD's they are an awsome breed of dog. Beaux the one in my sig is the 5th one to live with me. The first one was here 24 hours and broke out of a crate and jumped through a window! However if he was not contained inside and could come and go as he pleased (He prefered out doors but didn't do well with Llamas...did good with Goats but now is in a pet home with someone 24 hours a day) he was the sweetest most relaxed dog. He is the first dog to walk into my house and be allowed into my bedroom. He was only here a few days before moving to a farm home but while I was clipping nails, cutting out mats and cleaning the wounds from the window he stood there and was very calm and even licked my hands as I was cleaning him up. Now Beaux is TOTALLY opposite of the ASD personality. Where they typically are standoffish he's out going and LOVES everyone! Quote
Lucky Chaos Posted July 2, 2004 Posted July 2, 2004 I'll try but it might be a while, they live pretty far away and we only go there for Christmas. They have a HUGE property for this dog and she's been know to drag home whole deer into their yard. :o She's an excellent guard dog though, the fist time we went up my mom got out of the car to check if it was the right house and she came out of the garage and chased my mom back in and stood guard until someone came out to rescue us. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted July 2, 2004 Posted July 2, 2004 I can wait :-) It will be well worth it! I love seeing pictures of other people's ASD's. :-) I've only had one dog that showed any sign of being a guard dog. I had him at petsmart and there was not a single dog or adult that could approach my infant son with out me feeling his grumble going up the leash. Several times I had to pull him away or ask someone to back up. They hadn't heard him growl. I just felt it. Quote

The growl people hear is the warning. the one they DONT is the THREAT... dogs can hear it and respond. People dont... Quote
