Guest Anonymous Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 Hi I need help please, See i got a dog and my were a little wary about letting me have it. We got an underground fence to keep it in and everything was going good. One night he got loose took off the collar and broke it and chewed up the house. So we got a new collar. Last night we let him go with the new collar to see what he would do. He barked all night long, chewed up more of the house(even though we put sour apple spray on it), broke 2 collars, and dug up some flowers. When i tryed to catch him all he did was play the catch game and just get close enough to get close. My parents aren't very happy and i don't know how to get him to stop chewing. Please help!@!! Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 Few things that would be helpful to know.... How old is the dog? Do you have a crate for the dog? Do you have a real fence? If not do you plan on installing one in the near future? Are you prepared to only take your dog out on a leash if the "underground" fence doesn't work? First step to stop the chewing is supervision, second step is crate training. Giving the pup toys will also help curb the chewing but you have to TEACH him what is okay to chew on and what is not. Smooshie Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 also....what kind of dog is it ? and I couldn't tell from your post...is it an indoor dog, or is it outside all the time ? Quote
imported_Kat Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 What breed and age is this puppy? He sounds like he is both bored and is probably also teething so you need to ensure that firstly he is in a secure crate which will also help him feel more settled and secure and additionally to provide him with stimulation. Stuffed kongs filled with frozen yoghurt are great and also help to cool his gums for the teething. Quote
