dogsgalore Posted June 23, 2004 Posted June 23, 2004 I was at the pet store today with Jesse just visiting with the staff, they love Jesse! Then in walks this HUGE Rottweiler! He was very friendly and Jesse and him exchanged polite sniffs. The owners said he weighed 182 lbs.! He did some tricks and got some treats but Jesse was too interested in other things to care about eating so he missed out. :) I've never seen a vicious or even slightly mean Rottweiler in my life. The one's I've met were always very friendly. I've met some pretty vicious Chihuahua's though! I also saw a Norwegian Elkhound today, a Westie(not Jesse of course :) ), and numerous mixed breeds. At the Humane Society about 5 dogs are tagged for potential adoption! :D Even one of the dogs that's been there for almost 2 years may be finally getting a home!!! Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted June 23, 2004 Posted June 23, 2004 What great news that 5 pups are goign to be adopted!! i'm downloading some pictures of Zoey right, i'll post them here to show you another lovable rottie.. i have apicture of me laying on her ;) Quote
Cairn6 Posted June 23, 2004 Posted June 23, 2004 You know people are always talking about rotties like they are dangerous but I too have never met a dangerous rottweiler in fact they are some of the best trained dogs out there. I love them. Quote
katetsai Posted June 23, 2004 Posted June 23, 2004 I love rotties. Besides dobies, I will probably want a rottie. All of them are so nice, have not met one that's not a big baby. Quote
imported_Kat Posted June 23, 2004 Posted June 23, 2004 most of the Rotties that we saw at the surgery were so laid back and sloppy. To be honest I've come across few that weren't friendly, most have been a great nature and its highly unfair why they also get bad press. Quote
Guest roo Posted June 23, 2004 Posted June 23, 2004 Agreed here, i have only ever met a few iffy rotts :o I judged a show for charity a few years back and 4 of the 8 rotts there grumbled at me (pet owners) one big fat boy was  lovely just didnt want his bits touching (can you blame him) they raised about Quote
cheekymunkee Posted June 23, 2004 Posted June 23, 2004 182 POUNDS!!! :o Sounds like a hariy horse to me!! I don't think there are any "bad breeds", just bad dogs in those breeds. I've met several Rotties & found them all to be sweethearts. I have seen a few that would just as soon take your head off as breath but you can find that in ANY breed. Debby Quote

Julie2004 Posted June 23, 2004 Posted June 23, 2004 Rotties are my second fave breed! (Sorry, pitties are my fave :) ) I've never met a mean one either. Being a pit bull owner, I HATE it when people jump to conclusions about a dog because of its breed whatever that breed might be! Quote
courtnek Posted June 23, 2004 Posted June 23, 2004 the only mean rottie I ever met was owned by some macho enormous Dude with attitude....I often think the dog picks up the attitude of his owners. The guy was mean too. this was at the vet. Asked me what Free was...I said Lab X. he asks "waddya want a wimpy dog like that for?" with a mean sneer on his face. *sigh*   most of 'em are big slobbery babies. geez, even Free likes them usually, and that's saying alot.... xavierandrea Posted June 23, 2004 Posted June 23, 2004 I have never met a mean Rottie to date. My guys would like to thank everyone for they compliments. Roo--- Asim hates his bits touched also. Must be a male thing. Quote

Taurus and Jada Posted June 23, 2004 Posted June 23, 2004 In one of the classes Webby and I went to there was a rottie. He was such a darling He didn't seem to be aware of his own strenght though- once he leaned against his person affectionatly and she fell over! That is sometimes a problem with us and Jada also. SHe is now 11 months old and getting bigger and bigger! Its funny because the same thing happened to me at obediance class on Monday. I was kneeling down, and she just kinda nudged me, and almost knocked me over. She is currently 100 lbs , and 26 " tall. Bt back to the subject, I think rotties are all big sweeties too. I haven't had the pleaseure of meeting a ton of them, but all that I have met have been very sweet. Quote
courtnek Posted June 23, 2004 Posted June 23, 2004 what country is that? those dogs look bred more to the standards I think they should be. The Goldens are "gold", and not yellow/white (except for the one that looked like a puppy). The labs have the bulk head and wide necks. They look to be bred for work more than for show. the rottie was beautiful. I liked the flatties too, and the springer. :D Quote
