courtnek Posted June 11, 2004 Posted June 11, 2004 for the FIRST time since I brought her home, she is wagging her tail openly at my son and coming out to greet him!! She actually paid more attention to him then me!! I have been working with her to get her over her fear. She is afraid of males. She begged treats off of him, sitting, laying down, acting good...she stuck her head in his face, and licked him!! sounds unimpressive, I know, but to me, it's PROGRESS!!! WOO HOO!!!      Quote

Malamum Posted June 11, 2004 Posted June 11, 2004 Great job. I actually think making progress on the seemingly simple things like that are the most impressive. Quote
StarFox Posted June 11, 2004 Posted June 11, 2004 WOOHOO Laurel! And a huge WOOHOO to you court for all the time and energy you have given to her! :D Quote
behle Posted June 11, 2004 Posted June 11, 2004 Good news! Laurel is blossoming.... :D She knows she is in the best place ever and is safe, secure, and getting plenty of attention. Think what her life could have continued to be without your intervention. You are her angel!! Quote
imported_Kat Posted June 11, 2004 Posted June 11, 2004 what wonderful progress it is to hear! :D Quote
cheekymunkee Posted June 11, 2004 Posted June 11, 2004 I think it's great!! I love to see dogs comming out of their shells! What breed is she? Debby Quote
courtnek Posted June 11, 2004 Author Posted June 11, 2004    thanks everyone!!!! I never had a skittish dog before, she has been a challenge. but worth it!! Cheeky she is a purebred field trialed Foxhound. She hunted for the first 6 years of her life. Had no real exposure to people except the huntmaster. Lived in a pack of 15-20 other dogs in a kennel. They retired her and a foxhound rescue club took her in. Her fear has been an uphill battle, but I think we've finally crested and it;s gonna be downhill from here!! Starfox, I LOVE that sig....did he drink it, or just think about it?     Quote
