Never heard of them but then again with all the new "designer breeds" showing up lately, who knows. I was talking to an eBay seller who has a Corgidor. Corgi (not sure which one) & Lab mix. :o

Perhaps its a mutant gene of dwarfism showing up in some lines f Rottweilers. This can happen in many breeds and in some cases it was specifically bred for for instance corgi's, Dachhunds, Bassets etc. it is now a set gene in these breeds.

I have seen GSD's, which have been dwarf's, Dwarf Newfoundland's etc.
It is a gene which can show up every once in awhile in breeds...you could keep the mutant gene in a line and keep breeding for it to "create" a new dwarf breed.

yeah and create a whole new line of health problems

Yup.

The only way anyone would breed one of these so called minature breeds would be soley for profit.

Actually they happen to reputable breeders soley by mistake. They are not intending to do this, but, mutant genes do pop up in our purebreds.

These are not real breeds. And as far as the minature newfoundlands: A) I have never heard of this before and B)Why would anyone want a minature one

It happens, years ago the breeders would put them down ASAP. You don't see them often...I have only seen 1 GSD which was a dwarf, looked like a little coyoto pup at 2 years of age, and the Newf had the proper body with extremely short legs. I have only seen a couple in my life time and they were not pureposely bred. I was just explaining how it happens, it can happen, and it does happen.
I can't see any one making a profit off these dogs as they are riddled with genetic disorders (thyroid problems etc.)
The mutant dwarfs I have dealt with were kept by the breeders (not sold) and lived a comfortable life. The breeders spent alot of money keeping these dogs well and they did not live very long.

Did you not tell the original poster to that they could keep breeding the mutant gene to create a whole new line?

I was not trying to promote dwarfism, although after rereading my orginal post it appears that I was  this was not my intention.

I was just discussing how dwarfish happens and how some breeds were created by using this mutant gene. I have not studied genetics so there fore I am no expert...but, with larger breeds this is not an advisable breeding program unless you were looking for a new line of dogs to make our vet's rich.
Sorry if any one took me the wrong way.
