Guest Anonymous Posted May 29, 2004 Posted May 29, 2004 My mom is still hooked on getting one... so today I started a search for breeders in this area. My mom even mentioned eventually she'd like to breed them, which of course got a HUGE lecture from me  But she apparently knows a lot of stuff, and after I explained how costly it could be she seemed to change her mind a bit. She might not be getting her first one in about a year anyway, so tons of time to do research and what not. She wants to get one after Coal's gone because she's afraid he'd get jelous  Quite frankly if you ask me I think it'd be good for him to not be the "only dog" therefore the center of attention  But my 'rents just couldn't hurt his wittle feelings  (meanwhile is momma [me] thinks it's good for him   ) Anyway, I'm just wondering if there are any breeders/owners of Cavalier King Charles Spaniels out there? It'd be neat to find someone willing to converse with my mother, with her permision to give out her e-mail address as well. I also told her there's a few breeder's here, but when I named what I knew of who was breeding what she was like "those aren't Cavalier's though!" lol I was like "So, basic puppy rearing is all the same!" Any help would be really apprtiated, thanks!! :D Quote
imported_Cassie Posted May 29, 2004 Posted May 29, 2004 We groom ALOT of Cavalier King Charles Spaniels...they seem to be a sweet dog...probably due to the fact they have not been over bred...yet. All of our cleints got their Cavalier's from a breeder in Fredericton, NB Canada...this breeder seems to have a good kennel. If I talk to one of our clients and they would like to speak with your mother I will certainly pass it along. You may also want to e-mail a breeder directly and ask them questions about their breed. If you go onto the website dogs in Canada...they have a list of breeders for all breeds....I think they have included e-mail addresses as well...I think. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted May 29, 2004 Posted May 29, 2004 Thanks Cassie! :D Actually I did e-mail one! :D That's in BC even! I've been talking to an AmStaff breeder in Alberta for some time now, and deffently think that's the way to go before getting a pup  My mom said last night she called a bunch of breeders that she found in BC too, although I'm not sure what all they said, I do believe a couple were out too, but one of which has puppies comming soon, turns out to be the one I e-mailed with questions  Quote
courtnek Posted May 29, 2004 Posted May 29, 2004 Freddun (on our board) has Springers, but dont know if they are KC's or not. I dont think so, Alfie looks too big. But he may have pointers. :D Quote
bk_blue Posted May 30, 2004 Posted May 30, 2004 A friend of mine has always has King Chas Cavaliers- her first two, Lady and Dimple, lived long, happy and pampered lives. One of them was blind and also had diabetes in the later years of her life, the other one went deaf. Apart from that they were very sweet-natured dogs always looking for a cuddle. The thrid one she has now, Daisy, was a rescue. She did have some behavioural issues but they have been ironed out with training and attention and love. this same friend also had a cat who lived to be 23! :o Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted May 30, 2004 Posted May 30, 2004 :o 23? I've heard of cats living past 30 actually :o I wish dogs lived that long!! :( I found a Forum souly for KCS!! Took a LONG time to find though!! :o And I'm STILL waiting for my notification e-mail thingy to activate my account... seems kina dead around there actually :-? But maybe it's just cuz I'm so use to posts appearing every five seconds on Dogo   Quote
Aroura Posted May 31, 2004 Posted May 31, 2004 There are a lot of Cavaleers around here. Very sweet, gorgeous looking dogs. I've met quite a few and they are a very nice breed, though do have a tendancy to be fat if they are fed too much and aren't walked enough! When I was teaching at dog training there were a few Cavaleirs in my class, they were very friendly and devoted to their owners and so soft!!! Montie is always the smallest at training (one of the smallest in Armidale :o ) but there was a puppy cavaleir that Montie would play with, it was so sweet  They are a great breed, I've actually talked my housemate into getting one if she decides to get a dog - they are the ideal dog for many people :) Quote
