Beach Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 My dog has been at the vet for a few days because his leg swell after surgery. I was told that he may have thrombosis from laying for so long BUT that it is not dangerous to dogs like for people. I cannot believe that. Does anybody know anything about this????? THANKS Quote
Lokipups Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 Here's the findings for thrombosis from the Merck veterinary medical manual, it's a mouthful, but informative if you can get through the medical jargon :) . http://www.merckvetmanual.com/mvm/index.jsp?cfile=htm/bc/11500.htm&word=canine%2cthrombosis Quote
kendalyn Posted May 26, 2004 Posted May 26, 2004 If you want to prevent it happening again, squeeze your dogs legs while he is laying there (if he really can't get up and walk around). We put special wraps on people's legs in the hospital that inflate and deflate periodically to help prevent blood clots. Squeezing his legs would do the same thing. Your arm will probably get tired though! Quote
