Guest Anonymous Posted May 24, 2004 Posted May 24, 2004 How can you tell your dog apart from other labs? They all look the same and there are so many of them. If your lab was in a room with 100 others could you find your dog? I just like dogs that have lots of fur and different colorings so they dont all look alike. Hope you dont lose your dog :D and enough of the "troll" thing, everybody jumps on the troll wagon when somebody says something they dont like. Im expressing my opinions and dont expect you to like them. I dont have to agree with yours. Quote
Lucky Chaos Posted May 24, 2004 Posted May 24, 2004 Yep. And I don't have to agree with your opinion. Here's mine. TROLL. Quote

abker17 Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 Yay another topic to fill with funny pictures!  Quote
Mutt_Lady Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 If you don't want to be called a troll, then why are your actions so troll-ish? In two seperate threads, you have attacked several different breeds. Yes, you are entitled to your opinion and have the right to voice it...but all over the world we all have some thing called being polite. Many people here own Pits (which you called names in the other thread) and others have Labs, myself included. None of us appreciate you bashing our breeds. Perhaps these two breeds are trash to you...so what? They are treasure to us. I think you should re-think posting rude things about other people's breeds. Put yourself in our positions. I would never make fun of your breed...because I'd like to think of myself as civilized. Just quit with the dumb, pointless posts. Didn't your mother teach you.."If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." Quote
Lucky Chaos Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 Thank you Kiwi! I've been looking for that picture for ages now! :D Quote
courtnek Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 you really are an idiot. Why do you come here, bash breeds, bash people, and expect a reasonable response? OK, I'll tell you what, I'LL give you a "reasonable response"...in simple English, since you are not showing yourself to be reasonably intelligent by your posts. MYSELF...you could put me in a room with a hundred labs, or lab mixes, like Free, and I would KNOW HER INSTANTLY. Same with my Foxhound, although her coat and face are distinctive. There are nuances (oh, sorry, is that too big a word for you? let me clarify...) "things" about every dog that their owners would recognize instantly. Even in a room with a hundred others who looked like them. Dont you have something else to do? Like get a job? Community Service? Bean counting?     Quote
Lucky Chaos Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 Methinks Rabid Poodle is a double order of fruitcake with nuts on the side. :stupid: Quote
Malamum Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004     oh dear......... how some people manage to function in society is beyond me. Guest.... go crawl back under your rock and STAY there. You are not welcome here. Quote
Carolk9s Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 Tsk, tsk. Have ya'll forgotten everything K has taught you? If NO ONE feeds the trolls, they will starve to death! Obviously posting just to get under someones skin, ya'll are making it SOOO easy. 8) Quote
courtnek Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 **sigh** Carol, you are absolutely correct. I withdraw from this argument. K, forgive me. I COULDNT HELP MYSELF!!! Deliberate stupidity always sets me off...   8) Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 I think with trolls the idea of the nasty posts is for attention and to get a good laugh. Perhaps if we just ignored any strange posts the little troll would go bug another site. Remember, just like training our dogs, even negetive attention is just that...attention. Quote
mnp13 Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 My dog eats my clothes when she wants attention - and you know what she gets for it? A swat on the ass. So here you go troll - *swat* Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 i see only one of you could try to answer a question. The rest just bashed as usual. I welcome all answers about the lab thing. These are questions we all would like an answer to but some are afraid to ask. Like my questions about ugly and mean dogs. And now this question. You all wonder it in the back of your heads. You are afraid to ask because, oh no, somebody may get mad at me!! OHHHHNOOOOOOOO I just would like to know. If you cant give an answer than dont waste my time. Cool, where did you get the ugly dogs pic?? I had seen a website once called ugliest dogs or something like that and it had funny pics like that. Do you know the url, or wont you give it to me. thats fine, i will find it again. thanks anyway :D Quote
marion Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 You all wonder it in the back of your heads. Can't say that I have. I have more important things to occupy my mind. Quote
mnp13 Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 Rabid-Poodle napisał(a):i see only one of you could try to answer a question. The rest just bashed as usual. Oh please. Saying 'every lab looks alike' is like saying 'every black person looks alike'. It is a stupid and ignorant comment. Every person and every dog has individula traits. They may have similar features, but they all have distinct features as well. Even identical twins (who have the exact same DNA) have distinct features that make them individuals. This is not bashing, it is people lowering themselves to your level.... "Don't ever argue with an idiot, they pull you down to their level and then beat you with experience." Michelle Quote
imported_nea Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 My dog is not a lab, but he is a retriever. No markings. Still its simple to identify him even when there are lots of other flatties around. Just cause they are the same breed doesn't mean they to look alike! Sure they all have similarities, but there are destinct differences too. If you know your dog you know what it looks like and don't mistake it for any other. Theres my answer to your "question". Just a suggestion- if you really aren't a troll (don't know if I believe that... :-?) I think you'd be taken more seriously maybe if you didn't insult and put down certain breeds of dogs. You don't have to like them but there's no reason to continually bash them and be so judgemental about them. Its ignorant, immature and dumb. Not to mention entertaining to read, since its hard to get upset at things so abusurd and untrue  Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 My dog is not a lab, but he is a retriever ummmmmm........whats the difference, thought they were called laborador retrievers! Even identical twins (who have the exact same DNA) have distinct features that make them individuals. ok, then all labs are not alike---they have different DNA. there's no reason to continually bash them im NOT continually bashing them, im asking a question!! sasha--Ive seen that so many times, and its far from funny mnp13---they do Quote

Ok, forget my previous post about feeding the troll as I am about to do the very same!! Bad Carol, bad bad girl! I guess SOMEONE needs to tell the owners of Golden Retrievers and Curly Coated Retrievers and Flat Coated Retrievers that their dogs are henceforth all LABRADOR RETRIEVERS. Quote
Guest Mutts4Me Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 I for one didn't find this question insulting. I owned an black lab for 12 years, and he was a good dog. Plain looking, but a good dog. I could see a picture of a black lab somewhere and think, "that looks like Bandit." But did it look exactly like Bandit? Not really. Personally, I'm not a big fan of solid color animals, be it dog, cat, rat, or fish. I like multi-colors and uniqueness. Sasha is brown, but she's about five different shades of brown, and all cute and fluffy. Generally, I like lots of white markings. Akitas and Pit Bulls appeal to me, as do Boxers (especially the brindle/white ones) and Collies. Labs do not appeal to me physically, nor do Pekes... But I would never blatantly state that these are unattractive and wonder quite rudely why anyone would ever have one. What is unattractive to one person is attractive to another. I think Basset Hounds are rather unattractive, myself, but I know there are plenty of people who think they're adorable, and I understand why they think so, even. I just don't feel it myself. So if you're upset that people think of you as a troll, then stop acting like one. Feel however you want about certain breeds' looks, but don't act like you have the only right opinion. And Do NOT make assumptions about certain dogs. You can think a Bulldog is ugly if you want, but you may not come in here and say that Pit Bulls are mean dogs. The people here will tolerate your opinions, but they will not tolerate disrespect and instigation, especially when it involves using your skewed opinions as facts. There are plenty of people here who own German Shepherds and Pit Bulls, and their dogs are good dogs, or else they wouldn't have them. Coming in swinging is not the way to introduce yourself. If you're genuine about your interest in joining the board, then ease yourself into it. Learn who people are and what they own. Learn what kinds of behavior is tolerated and what is not. Learn what tact is, and practice it in a public forum. You honestly want to know what attracts people to Pekes and Bulldogs? Then start a topic asking what attracted people to their "so-called" ugly dogs. Maybe people will open up a little more. Calling their dogs Ugly and listing each breed with an insult is not going to make people want to have a discussion with you. Likewise, asking why someone would own a Pit Bull or German Shepherd because they're mean (and then making blanket assumptions about the owners of such breeds) is not going to give you an open-door response. Maybe asking what attracted people to "so-called mean" dogs and asking what stereotypes they have to deal with and how would have been a better approach. Asking lab owners if they can tell their dogs apart from others of the breed is not in itself insulting, but when you ask it directly after you've so rudely attacted several other dogs and their owners gives it a negative connotation, don't you think? I mean, what are you going to ask next? Why on Earth would people have such "dumb" dogs as Bulldogs and Beagles when they could have such bright creatures as Border Collies, Poodles, and German Shepherds.... oh... wait... Quote
Carolk9s Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 Most, but apparently not all, human brains are adept at recognizing minute differences in what they see, hear, touch, and taste. Otherwise, various but similar shades of color would look exactly the same. ALL Red Delicious apples would taste the same. ALL barking dogs would sound the same. ALL dog fur would feel the same. Without looking, I know which of my dogs is coming down the hallway by the sound their feet and nails make. I even know which dog has just passed by the air intake register by the shift of sound based on their body size. Without looking, I know which of my dogs is barking. I also know if the bark is because a squirrel has been spotted, or if the girls are playing, or if there is someone approaching the house. I could put my Belgian Sheepdog in a room with 100 other Belgian Sheepdogs and find him. Sure it might take a few minutes, he does not hear well so would not hear me calling him. He'd also be very busy trying to romance any females in the room. I would find him. I know his specific look, how he stands, how his body moves, I know his eyes. Quote
