Crested Posted May 24, 2004 Posted May 24, 2004 I thought I'd ask... Bella's first heat started 5:th of April and they ended about 4 weeks afterwards. Now I've seen that her "boobs" have just been growing and growing. Should I be concerned? I was very clear with my parents that during Bella's heat she was not allowed to run around off leash and was to be kept away from other dogs. And I was even more clear about the fact that she was not to be left without supervision for a SECOND when she was outside. I didn't want any unwanted puppies and especially not from her first heat. I talked to my parents and they both said that they saw to it that no other dog got near her during this time... So why are her boobs still this big and still growing? Is it normal? Should I be concerned? She's totally herself - happy, jumping, energic... But still I'm worried. Here's a pic so you get the idea of what I'm talking about. (I lifted her front paws up so she's standing on her hind legs (she loves it)). Quote
izzy Posted May 24, 2004 Posted May 24, 2004 Hmmm, i'm not an expert so my advice is go to your vet, looks like madame Bella had a secret affair, i hope not. :) Quote
TDG Posted May 24, 2004 Posted May 24, 2004 my dachshund bitch looked like that when she went through a false pregnancy. it involved basically everything you'd encounter in a "real" pregnancy minus the actual birth. she would start nesting near her "due" date, care for her squeaky porcupine like it was a puppy, and even producing milk. she is very prone to false pregnancies, but at least once in her life she got to care for a real baby, an orphaned kitten she nursed for a few weeks. :) Quote
Crested Posted May 25, 2004 Author Posted May 25, 2004 I've been trying to feel her tummy to see if I feel any "lumps" etc. (puppies) but I can't feel anything there... :-? I was a little afraid of falce pregnancy... I have no experience on this what so ever so I guess I have to keep a very close eye on her. Quote
