Guest Anonymous Posted May 20, 2004 Posted May 20, 2004   :o  :o  She has a yippy little taco bell dog ( i can't spell it right so i'll just say that you all know what i mean ) well she lives across the street from me, never has the stupid dog on a leash or anything, he always comes yippin' twords my dogs who then go crazy cuse they don't really like tiny little 4 pound dogs. well she took her dog in MY back yard and let it poop in MY yard, then walked through the rest of my bakc yard and back on the side of my house, leaving the poop.. GRRRR hello!!!!! does she NOT have a backyard of her own? isn't that tresspassing or something?!?! ( probally not since i live on post, but still if i had my fence up would she go in my gate?!? ) i had half the mind to let my dogs out and scare the shit outta her becuase when they get outside they just start running around jumping and playing on each other.. but i didnt' want to start stuff abecuase i haven't even lived here 2 weeks. but i still want to pick up the poop and go knock on her door and say i saw you and yoru dog in my backyard. and i think you forgot soemthing.. GRR sorry i just HAD to rant people like that should not be allowed to have dogs.. let alone to top it off she always yells' come here you stupid little dog, get back over here... uhh.. put a leash on yer"stupid little dog" *sigh* :agrue: Quote
courtnek Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 :evilbat: :evilbat: :evilbat: :evilbat: leave the poop there. Cover it, and the surrounding area in BLACK PEPPER... NOT red pepper, BLACK. one sniff. and the dog will sneeze his head off. and NEVER want to return. and it wont hurt him at all... :evilbat: :evilbat: Quote
Cairn6 Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 Did you say anything to her? Perhaps people in your new neighborhood don't care about these things. It's kind of hard to keep people out of an open yard. I had a very large chocolate lab at my old house that pooped everyday and those weren't little bitty chihuahua poops they were huge poops probably the size of your big dogs poop. Dogs poop and I do make it a habit of making sure I pick up my dogs poop but if someone lets there dog poop on my lawn then that is the price we pay for having dogs in the neighborhood. If you sense a bit of annoyance from me it stems from the fact that I have a "yippy little taco bell dog" as you call it and am sick to death of the stereotype. These little dogs are wonderful little companions who if trained properly just like any other dog are very obediant and sweet. Quote
Horsefeathers! Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 I have actually handed a few people a plastic sack to pick up poop when I see them let their dog poop in my yard. The back is fenced, but the front is open and people walk on the private roadway in front all the time, but NO ONE has their dogs on a leash. If they decide to pee on my car tires or poop right at my front door, I'm not supposed to mind because I have so many dogs, I reckon (though MY dogs don't poop there). I've actually watched people let their dogs pee all over my car tires and poop right at the foot of my stairs... they don't even make an effort to call them away. I sometimes run out of the house screaming like a mad woman if I see a dog wandering my yard marking this and dumping on that, but when I see poop, I'm handing the passerby a sack. Sometimes all it takes is making them aware that it is a problem. Some people honestly think you don't mind if you don't tell them. I mind it a LOT. I freak out because most of the dogs around here are just your basic garden variety yard dogs, meaning they don't usually get shots, wormed, or any basic health care. Since an episode recently where I had several dogs in the house with diarrhea, I'm particularly paranoid about what other dogs are dropping off in my yard whether that had anything to do with it or not. Next time you see your neighbor let her dog leave a package on your lawn, be the "good samaritan" and offer her a baggie to pick it up. That way, you confront her about the problem without being confrontational, ya know? Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 I'd pick up the poop and take over to the neighbors house, ring their bell and give her the poop back to her. Advise her that her precious little taco dog should only leave "cash" deposits in your yard..other wise all other deposits will be returned. Quote
anne3149 Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 Yep! I would pick it up in plastic bag and leave it at her door step. The black pepper sounds like a good idea too. Quote
Daisysmom Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 but i still want to pick up the poop and go knock on her door and say i saw you and yoru dog in my backyard. and i think you forgot soemthing.. GRR    Just what I was thinking!!!! Love the pepper idea!!! I have three dogs, and always clean up after them!!! and some bleeping neighbor has been letting their dog poop on my front lawn :x ....and I have a very nice front yard!!! (you should see the back  ) So, glad I read this post!!! Good luck, and keep your cool  That's what this place is for  Quote

I don't mind confrontation at all and I'd love to do something like that, but keep in mind that some people aren't wrapped too tight. In my area, it's nothing for people to set out poison (or throw it over your fence) as a form of revenge, or for "nuisance" dogs. The black pepper thing I could do, handing them a baggie I can do, but I try my best not to be confrontational with my neighbors where dogs are concerned and I do have some really crappy neighbors. Having a sense of "revenge" is not worth the risk of having someone vandalize my property or try to harm my dogs. A neighbor situation is tricky because these people already know where you live. Not the people I want to pick a fight with if I can avoid it. Do you really want to start a neighbor war? Be the better neighbor, let the first incident slide and call her on it if it happens again (confront without being confrontational). Some people are truly clueless and she may be a nice person who genuinely didn't know any better. What's common sense to us isn't always so common to others. Doggylover/Cassie, are you having sign in problems? If you're not Cassie, I apologize, but I was just wondering if there's a problem. I'm sure K or someone could help. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 Thanks for the advice people i just let my dogs out back to a huge yellow lad in my yard.. man i can't wait for my fence. Thanks for all the ideas. i will be heading out in a few mins to put some black pepper around the dog poo.. as for the person who tripped out about me calling it a yippy little dog. well EXCUSE ME but this little dog IS a yippy little thing that never shuts up. i'm not talking about all of the dogs of that breed as i know many people who have them and they make great pets. but i was refering to the yippy one that lives across the street. so please calm down. :x Quote

My chi's are the best dogs that I have had in my entire life and I have had alot of other dogs. I think she needs to confront this person in a nice way. It is not the dogs fault it is the owners fault. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 Thank you carin6 iu'm very much aware that it is not the dogs fault that it is the owners fault and if you guys would read my posts i'm not saying all of the dogs are yippy my mom owns one and a few freidns of mine do they are great dogs, this one just happens to be yippy. so THANK YOU Quote
courtnek Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 I dont think DAL calling them "yippy little taco dogs" was meant as an insult to Chihauhau's in general. She explained she couldnt spell Chihauhau (neither can I, usually) and I have two Chi's next door which are VERY yippy-yappy. While I dont dislike Chi's in general, I DO dislike these two. or I should say, I dislike their arrogant, uncaring owner, who puts them out at 6:00 a.m. and lets them yap all day long in the yard. I come home at 6:00 p.m. and they're STILL there, yapping....on Saturday and Sunday, when I want to sleep in, it's REALLY annoying.... I have talked to him about it, and all he says is "dogs belong outside. I dont leave them out at night becasue Animal Control says I have to have a doghouse then"...this guys yard backs up to my bedroom window.... so please dont be insulted by what DAL said. I dont think she meant it the way you took it. :D Quote
Cairn6 Posted May 22, 2004 Posted May 22, 2004 Oh I can understand how annoying any dog could be and perhaps it's me being overly sensitive because on another board whenever the subject of Pitbulls come up a lot of people are instantly trying to defend the dog saying they aren't bad it's the owners then turn around and talk about small dogs like they are horrible little yappy and nippy. When I always say that just like with a larger breed chihuahuas and other small breeds are dogs and can be trained and it's the owners of the individual dogs that are a problem. Chihuahua are very much connected to their owners and for that neighbor of yours to let them out all day is just wrong they are barking constantly because they are scared and don't know what to do. Chihuahuas are not meant to be left out all day. I'm sure she didn't mean anything but I think any owner would be a bit annoyed if someone said the breed that they have is negative in some way. It's not really fair to you DeafAussieLover to be taking out my annoyance on you. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted May 22, 2004 Posted May 22, 2004 thanks Court *hugs* carin6 thanks for finally understanding me. didn't mean to "bash your breed" i have no problem with them in generl, just this one. glad you understand me now ;) Quote

I agree 150% - the other bad thing is that these dogs are also aggressive. Their owner is one of those macho-morons who thinK a Chi that "takes on a human" is cute....GGGRRRRR.....they growl/bark/snap at anyone who comes near, including me, and up until these two I have yet to find a dog I couldnt get along with. They threaten my dogs through the fence. My dogs together outweigh them 150 times....I have told him he is setting himself up for disaster, these dogs will bite someone someday, who WONT think it's "cute"..... thanks for understanding. I've known DAL a long time here, and I know she wouldnt be derogatory about a breed in general... 8) Quote
anne3149 Posted May 22, 2004 Posted May 22, 2004 Unfortunately this breed does have a reputation of being 'yippy and snappy' whether we like it or not. This is because owners do not seem to see the need to train such a small dog. They occasionally end up in pounds, not very often though. When I am at the pound in the course of rescue, I will not go into an enclosure that hold a chihuahua as I have not met one that doesn't try to bite. I have no problems going in with Rotties, GSD's and other large dogs but not little yappy ones. It's a pity that bad owners are responsible for the breed having a bad reputation but they do indeed have that. Perhaps if the breeders were more selective with prospective owners or impressed upon owners the need to train these little ones. I have never met an obedience trained chi. Quote

This is because owners do not seem to see the need to train such a small dog. Agreed. Probably my biggest pet peeve is people who don't see the need to train their small dogs and think it's "cute" when the little darlin's turn into little canine terrorists. They occasionally end up in pounds, not very often though. Disagreed, but then can only speak for shelters in my area. Through our clinic, we've placed many Chis and Chi mixes because they do frequently end up abandoned along with Poodles, Shihs, Maltese and other "cute" breeds. Chihuahuas and their mixes are a dime a dozen around here and are frequently surrendered/abandoned. It's a pity that bad owners are responsible for the breed having a bad reputation but they do indeed have that. Perhaps if the breeders were more selective with prospective owners or impressed upon owners the need to train these little ones. Agree wholeheartedly. Again, I get so angry with people who don't think little dogs need much training, or who think it's cute to have a little demon, or they have the dog as some sort of weird fashion accessory and just carry it around treating it like a little baby in a fur lined suit. I'm not talking about anyone here... just people in general. I wish more people would realize that little dogs need every bit as much training and socialization as bigger dogs and that it's not cute at all when they are encouraged to be "feisty." I have never met an obedience trained chi. Please say hello to Chico (I know, unoriginal name for a Chi.. blame it on hubby). Now you know an obedience trained Chihuahua (he's still yappy, though, but no more so than my Lab who barks at EVERYTHING... ). 8) Quote
kendalyn Posted May 22, 2004 Posted May 22, 2004 DAL, have you gone around to say hello to your neighbors yet? They may not even know someone is living at your house and go walking through the yard thinking it's empty. Plus, if you go around just to say hello, they'll be more aware of you and will have a harder time being rude. :-) Quote
anne3149 Posted May 23, 2004 Posted May 23, 2004 HF he is gorgeous!! I am in Australia and we rarely see any chi's here in the pounds. We get crosses but I haven't come across a pure in months. Mostly we get what we calls swf's (small white fluffies) after the owners discover that grooming is needed and can't be bother with it. These poor mites end up in the pounds so matted that some of them can't walk properly and they all need to be shaved right back. They are in such pain the poor little things. We get a lot of Poms and JR's and their crosses too. Of course the larger breeds are always there in numbers. Lack of training is usually the reason the dogs become unruly and the owners decide to palm the problem off on someone...anyone else. I wish dog ownership was licensed as so many other things are. The main criteria to be to obedience train and pay up front for the training or no dog for you Sir!! Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted May 23, 2004 Posted May 23, 2004 *hugs* thanks court. what would i do with out you? :) you made me teary. i'm emotional this week. haha.. anyways i HAVE gone and said hi to the neighbors, it's obveous someone lives here we have our name plate on the front of the house ( SGT BROWNLOW in huge letters ) and we have a satelight dish in the middle of the bakc yard,m plus i'm always out working in the yard.. i haven't see it happen since i wrote that, maybe she was having and off day ?? courtnek Posted May 23, 2004 Posted May 23, 2004 you're welcome DAL. I understood what you meant, but it was written in aggravation and did come across a little feisty - believe me, I've been there!! :D :D :D :D and HF he is adorable!!! I've never seen one in person with that coloring, only the tan ones that are so common around here. A face like that would be easy to spoil...I only wish people understood what a bad idea that is....
