Well, I have two pictures I can show you of my temporary doggie family. There are 7 more to go!!

Peace, the dingo-ish dog I've talked about several times:

Ringo, a "baby" tiger (almost a year old) sitting next to Eddie:

LOL! I'm sorry, I've been giving updates here and there on the NDR forum, and I guess I wasn't thinking about the fact that not everyone reads that and would know what was going on... plus I was on my lunch break so I didn't have a lot of time.

Ringo is NOT a pet, and he is NOT at my home.

I'm currently completing an internship at a wildlife refuge that specializes in rescuing Big Cats that were previously owned as pets and/or breeders and have been given up or confinscated. Check my signature for more info. Ringo came to us at 4 months old after he was left in the care of his owners' friends and was never picked back up. The young animals all live at the President's house for special attention and care, and once they get bigger, they're moved into the main part of the refuge. Ringo will be moving soon.

I just wanted to show you pictures of a few of the dogs at the refuge. There are several dogs living here, spread out among various employees, and I want to post pictures of all of them - my temporary doggie family - as I am able. Peace and Eddie happen to live the closest to me, so I've been able to get pictures of them first.

Sorry for the confusion.

If you're referring to Ringo, he eats about 6 pounds of raw meat a day. The adult lions and tigers get 8 pounds on average, the cougars get half of what they get, and Ringo gets somewhere in the middle. Soon he'll be getting a full meal though. He's getting big.

Well that's a relief. I had just read a post at another site that had ads on the internet about getting exotic pets and Large cats, and monkeys were being advertised as pets. It was horrible.

I was referring to ringo although the dog is a beauty himself. I have always loved seeing the big cats at the zoo and was courious what they ate on a daily basis. Thanks for sharing

No problem. Zoo animals tend to get very specific diets formulated for each animal, and non-profits like TCWR feed whatever they can. We're very lucky to have the support of Tyson, which donates about 90% of the meat we get... so our cats get almost solely chicken, lol... other places collect road kill or work with local grocery stores and slaughterhouses for various other kinds of meat. All the cats get extra vitamon their meat as well.

oh Mutts....Ringo, and the dogs, are just beautiful. I love the big cats. I wish I could do what you're doing...just seeing them everyday would make my day. Wolves, too.

I am so glad there are rescue societies that will take them in. There is apparently a cougar loose here, which they are using Foxhounds to trail
(from Laurel's kennel) and there is a rescue society onsite with a dart gun to take it down and then move it to a sanctuary.
