Guest Anonymous Posted May 7, 2004 Posted May 7, 2004 My eleven week old female white German Shepherd has hurt her leg. I am not sure what happened, she was on our bed playing with our older dogs as usual and I hear a loud yelp and then her whining. This is nothing new at my house as for the first three weeks we owned her she thought her name was ANNH or NOOO. When I finally moved everyone else from around her I noticed she had peed on her leg. When I picked her up she whined, again not unusual because as mean as she is with the other dogs, she is equally as much a wuss with me. I gave her a bath and took her outside and noticed a limp. I tried to get her to jog a little on it to see if it was legitimate. When I got her inside I began a close examination and the pain is at her ankle. I am afraid she has hurt it bad, she will not put any weight on it now. She also will not take a treat or anything. I am very worried. I will try to take her to the vet as soon as possible.    Quote

Guest Anonymous Posted May 7, 2004 Posted May 7, 2004 Of course as soon as we get to the vet, she is walking with barely a limp. The vet checked her out good and thinks that she only sprained her ankle. :D :D :D :D :D :D Gave her some topical pain killer, a shot of anti inflammatory and sent some Rimadyl home for pain. She threw up in the car on the ride home but since then she has slept. The doc prescribed kenneling her for the night and then see how her gait is in the morning. I have a question about the Rimadyl. There is no way I would give it to my little pup. My moter and father-in-law have a pair of goldern retrievers and one developed some issues at around 12 to 16 weeks. The vet gave him rimadyl and it almost killed him. It basically destroyed his liver, and he is still a little slow from the side effects and he is about 11 months old now. Does anyone else have any experience with the drug Rimadyl? Thanks for the concern, I think she will be fine. Quote
