HELP!!!...
I need some help really really bad. I adopted a dog from the SPCA, which is an orginization where you can adopt animals. This was two weeks ago. Friday of Last week he was diagnosed with Kennel Cough. I was given some anibiotics for him. He was coughing, loss of appitite runny nose and turns out a swollen throat. Well after 3 days of this medicene he was getting better, started eating and drinking more, fever started going away etc. He was getting back to his normal self. Well here it is a week later and he has stopped eating again, and refuses to eat and drink. He still has a runny nose, the coughing has subsided and the fever from what I can tell is gone. His nose is soft feet pads are soft etc, he just will not eat. When he started feeling better he started chewing on his bone again and playing, now all he wants to do is lay around and sleep and will not play, eat or drink. I have tried to force feed him with no avail, I have tried taking him outside to play, he's not interested, I DON"T KNOW what to do. I fear I will have to take him back because i am afraid he will die of starvation......I have tried changing his bowls.... I have tried people food (chicken) or cheese he wants no part of it.....he is still taking the medication that was given to me so I don't know what more I can do... can anyone help me??? Please... the last time I went to a vet he told me that the dog needed hospilization. This was before he was diagnosed with Kennel Cough..... could this vet be right? Is there more to this than I know. He's been given a clean bill of health no heart worms were detected and was given all his shots..... Any Idea's???????? I am so worried about him.
Thanks.

Thank you for your response.
To put a time line on this. I picked him up on a Weds 4/20, if that's a correct date. That following friday I noticed he was getting sick but it wasn't bad, I figured he was going through some anxianty <sp> new home etc, cause the SPCA received him on the 15th. Come the following Monday after that I was completely concerned cause symptoms got worse and from reading I did, I figured it was Kennel cough but the SPCA will only help me if I have taken the dog to get him checked out by a vet first and get diagnosed. So I did Monday afternoon. I took him to the Vet Hospital near me, and the vet looked at him and said due to what I paid to adopt him and due to what it would cost to get the dog back to health I was better off taken him back to the SPCA. He told me he could not diagnose what was wrong with him, that he is very very sick, and he would have to hospitalize him run test on him to find out what exactly is wrong with him, I asked him what are we looking at cost wise and he said just to put him in the hospital and on IV it would cost me around $200. Well starting out that's alot of money, so because it was within my "guarantee" time with the SPCA, I took him back, the vet there looked at him and said he has a sever case of Kennel Cough gave me two weeks of Dicoral (Dicural) <sp> and have him take it once a day for two weeks. I started him on it that day, and for the following 3 days he was getting back to normal, as I said. He ate a whole bowl of food, drank plenty of water, chicken noodle soup, rice and chicken broth...etc... This Saturday. (Yesterday) is when he started acting the same way again. But with out all the sympoms..exception for the runny nose. They said at the SPCA it would take a full 2 weeks for him to get back to normal completely. But starting this sat...he just down right doesn't want nothing....just attention, which is what I give him, that's all I can give him at this point. Should I just go ahead and take him to the vet again? Or just take him back to the SPCA? I know its only been a day, but I am concerned.

Just to let everyone know that was wanting an update on my poor sick dog. I thought I was going to loose my dog. It came down to the point to I was gonna have to give him back to the SPCA, because there was nothing more I could financially for him cause at this point my car broke down and I was forced to choose....yes sad but being I only have one car, I had to make that choice. BUT!!!! when I went back to the SPCA, and told them what was STILL wrong with my dog, they gave me differnt antibiotics, and a de-congestant for him and i am so proud to say that my BABY is back to being the happy baby I brought home the first day!!!. He is back to normal, playful...VERY effectionate, and carefree..... So Thank you all for your help and if I got some your prayers, and thoughts!!....
YEAH!!!
