Guest Anonymous Posted April 23, 2004 Posted April 23, 2004 I have a female shepard/collie mix, who is urinating then coming back in the house and having to go back outside to urinate again within 10-20 minutes. She is eating and drinking as usual with no fever. She does not appear to be in any pain. Any idea what may be causing her to urinate so often? Previously she urinated every 2-3 hours during the day then holding her water over night. Quote
imported_Debbie Posted April 23, 2004 Posted April 23, 2004 I would have her checked for a Urinary Tract Infection, this is sure tell tale sign of it. The Vet will require you to bring in a sample of her urine to test. If she does have it, she'll have to take antibiotics. My Lab/Rott Gretchen had this when I got her at 8wk. and she had a terrible infection, so bad it took 3 rounds of antibiotics and early spaying to cure it. She's 2yr. old and has never had it since. Quote
anne3149 Posted April 23, 2004 Posted April 23, 2004 Debbie, I agree. My girl had a UTI as a pup and antibiotics were required. As Debbie said, get a sample of pups urine and take it when you take her to the vet. Please don't delay, these infections are painful. Quote
xavierandrea Posted April 23, 2004 Posted April 23, 2004 I noticed that when we have Free spayed she began urinating all the time. She used to hold it for at least 4 - 5 hours now she has accidents. The vet checked her for UTI but came back negative. The vet then told me this happens to many dogs that are spayed. She said it has to do with moving her insides around??? :-? Is your girl spayed?
