are ther any medical reasons to crop min pin ears

Some people say it makes them less likely to get an ear infection, but I think that is mostly a cop out to make it sound like a legitimite medical procedure. It's pretty much an aesthetics only procedure.

we just bought "Buddy" he was seven weeks old and the runt of the litter he weighed only one and a half pounds now he's come out of his shell has gained weight and very active we don't want to put him in any pain some dogs get '' hematomas" sp?

It doesn't have much "function" except whether or not you like the way it looks. If he is that young and youlike the way a cropped ear looks as opposed to a drop ear....it really won't bother him that much, unless he is just REALLY pain sensitive.

If you are that concerned about it then I wouldn't do it, because your fear can be sensed by him and might upset him. I'd say, even though all of mine are cropped, that I'd just leave them dropped since you obviously have concerns.
