Horsefeathers! Posted March 21, 2004 Posted March 21, 2004 Where would a person obtain one? It's not something I've noticed in PetEdge, or any of the local pet supply stores. I also wouldn't mind having another one of those nifty Border Collie whistles. I picked a couple of those up a few years ago at a Border Collie trial and it was the greatest thing for helping ALL of my dogs learn reliable recalls (even though that's not what they're intended for :P ). The thing is I could use some more. Quote
Horsefeathers! Posted March 21, 2004 Author Posted March 21, 2004 I can't believe I didn't think of this! Ebay! Courtnek, you gave me the idea. I've just never shopped Amazon, but ALWAYS look on ebay. Imagine my red face now for not thinking to look on ebay! Thanks for the idea! I just bought a clicker for just over a buck! Now I'm off to look for those nifty whistles. I wonder if they're called anything other than Border Collie whistles. :) Quote
Horsefeathers! Posted March 21, 2004 Author Posted March 21, 2004 I had actually been considering taking an old computer mouse and using it for a clicker (being the tightwad I am and all)... Quote
courtnek Posted March 22, 2004 Posted March 22, 2004 I didnt think of ebay either, and I have an account there!! duh....   the old mouse is a good idea.....  Quote
Horsefeathers! Posted March 22, 2004 Author Posted March 22, 2004 K napisaĆ(a):I have fingers on my hands already...they click just fine... Not with my short, stubby paws. If I try to snap my fingers, I often end up tearing skin away from my nail and causing it to bleed. I'm obviously doing something wrong. Thanks, noooofiemom! I'm glad that I'm not the only person who would consider depriving my dogs of their maximum clicking experience by improvising with a much more, um, cost effective thingamabob. I already ordered a clicker on ebay (thanks, court!), but it'll be great to know in the future. I have tons of click 'em pens and old dilapidated mouses! :D Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted March 22, 2004 Posted March 22, 2004 I got my first clicker free at obediance class, Mandi (who was running the Obediance classes) said they got a whole bunch for free at... the dog spot... or something, I can't remember, would have to look what it says on the back of the clicker  I lost that one, then after a search through three different pet stores in PG found one for FIVE BUCKS, and it was a really quite one, which Coal doesn't really work well with :-? Needless to say, I thought it was a rip off. Finally found the first one (in the shower, now why didn't I look there in the first place?! :stupid: ) and lent the five bucks one to Lexie. I never even thought of using a mouse  Although tried a juice bottle lid, them clicky ones but it was too soft. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted March 22, 2004 Posted March 22, 2004 I tried it with Coal though, he just didn't seem to work as good with it... maybe it was just me... but that's what it seemed like... Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted March 22, 2004 Posted March 22, 2004 Oh kay, I won't argue with you Newfiemom on what works best with MY dog  Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted March 22, 2004 Posted March 22, 2004 Sorry, but that's what it sounded like. I said that I found that the louder ones worked better, and you said "Actually snapple caps work better", it just seemed like you were trying to argue with me. Sorry for any confussion. Quote
