HE'S GOT IT! :D :D I'm so happy! I've been trying to teach Coal to "Leave It" for a while now, I feel this is a VERY important command, especially when your dog has to share his house with a Kitty Pride :o
Well, today I walked him down our road, which I never do because there's tons of dogs and I've always thought it was too big of a distraction. I was able to get the gental leader on him with minimul fuss (and LOTS of treats :D and high pitched "GOOOOD SMART PUPPY! GOOD BOY"s in there too  ) and once it was on he didn't struggle much. I wanted to go for an actual walk, not a walk where I stop every three feet because he's pulling
So we go down our road, which he's never been down (with my knowledge anyway...) and every dog that came rushing to the end of it's driveway barking (I'm relitavely surprised... last trip down there with Hazel they all just HAD to come right up  ) he'd look, and do a little dance and I said "Coal, LEave it" and he'd turn his head back straight and keep walking! Every now and then he'd glance at this barking dog and I'd tell him leave it and he would :D

Then when we got home I was playing basketball/soccer with him inside (I can't wait for summer and no snow... I know mom sure can't when it comes to us playing inside   ) well anyway, the ball went down into the living room and hit these wooden things my dad made, which were leaning on the ball and would come crashing down probably also knocking down one of the speakers if they did, and scaring Coal no doubt which I DON'T need. He was just about to jump at the ball, I was at the other end of the room and I told him "LEAVE IT" and he jumped back and looked at me, then went towards the ball again and I told him "COAL LEAVE IT" and he did! Until I got down there and straightened things out and gave him back the ball :D I was so happy, I praised like mad! YAAAY! Coal's finally got it I think! :D :D

Thanks guys!
Oh yeah, thought I'd add that when I said I never take him down OUR road, that doesn't mean I don't take him for walks. Thought people might think that seeing as they dont' see how the roads are set up and where we live. We live on the corner of Schram Rd. and Kring Rd. We have two driveways comming out onto each road, but the one on Schram is the only one that gets used, and in fact there's trees growing over the other one  So I don't usually take him down Schram Rd. Which is smaller, and filled with dogs. I take him down (left, right heads to the highway and also two more dogs) Kring Rd. down to the lake usually  Much longer nicer walk, and in the summer it's great when we get to the end and the dogs can go swimming (although Coal could only get his feet wet, I plan on teaching him how to swim this summer, I guess doggy paddling just doesn't come naturally to this lab  ).

I think I need to teach my parents the Leave It command, I always forget to tell them when I teach Coal something new, this morning I woke up to him chasing the cat and my mom yelling 'COAL NO" which she might as well been yelling "COAL TREES" because it means diddly sqaut to him  I found when he runs after the cat he USUALLY will stop when I tell him leave it, depends how into it he is. I'm hopping with more practice I'll be able to tell him it just once and he'll get it on the first try :D
