switching from Canidae

Unfortunately :-? , Canidae seems to give my 8 month old bad dandruff. She is very shiny and does great otherwise, just flakey. After months on Canidae, I switched her to Solid Gold puppy, and within a week she cleared up, and got even shinier( and she was pretty shiny to begin with) Tried to go back to Canidae after a month on S.G to see if it was a fluke or something, and same thing , full of flakes. But I sometimes hear some strange things about the (SG) company and its owner, one thing, that they don't have a refund policy, which I find a little troubling. Some other brands I have available are Natural Balance,Natures Variety, Royal Canin Natural Blend, and with a little further drive, Eagle Pack. What would be the best replacement for Canidae?

gspmom, which food is the "best" depends on the individual dog. i would definitely rate canidae as one of the very top-quality foods, but as you see it doesn't work out with your dog. the "best" food is the one that gives you the best results, regardless of the experiences of other dog owners.

the ones you listed i would rate in the following order as far as ingredient quality goes (best to "worst", but they are all good brands!):

nature's variety
eagle pack (but only the 3 holistic varieties, the rest isn't so great)
natural balance
royal canin natural blend

my personal top choice of all the dry foods is innova, other brands i trust are california natural, karma, healthwise, canidae (which doesn't apply in this discussion), artemis, azmira, blue buffalo and chicken soup.
