schippsmom Posted March 7, 2004 Posted March 7, 2004 :Dog_run: For those of you in the northeast U.S. Spring is officially here, The shedding has started. I've always considered rubbing Re-Run down with super glue, this time I might just do it!! My house is full of dog hair Ugh!! You would think I'm the only one who knows we have a sweeper! Anyone else ready to super glue??? Paula & Dog hair dust bunnies Quote
Brandon002 Posted March 7, 2004 Posted March 7, 2004 Go to the pet store and pick up a bottle of brewer's yeast tablets. Give your dog one for every 10lbs of body weight daily. This helps maintain a good coat and healthy skin and also helps to minimize shedding. Quote
Lokipups Posted March 7, 2004 Posted March 7, 2004 Shedding started? It's never stopped :o ! Between my own two who blew out their puppy coats over the dead of winter, to the Sibes I have as fosters, I could've clothed a third world nation with the fur from my floors :P ! Quote
imported_Cassie Posted March 7, 2004 Posted March 7, 2004 What I do is to control shedding is throw the dog in the tub, brush the coat in the tub when lathered up...you wouldn't beleive all the dead undercoat you can get out. We have alot of husky's and Malamutes which come in for grooming at this time of the year to get the undercoat out...I can usually get most out in the bath tub. working at a grooming shop I also have access to a high velocity dryer...these are great for zapping the rest of the undercoat out. With my Newf's, I do the same with them....I brush them in the bath tub when they are lathered up...then take the high velocity to them...if I didn't I would have tundrils of coat floating through my home. Guest Anonymous Posted March 7, 2004 Posted March 7, 2004 Yep the shedding has certainly started at my house. I swear the balls of fur look like tumbleweed rolling across the floor if I miss even one day sweeping. And like you, I'm the only one who does it! :D Quote
Aonir Posted March 7, 2004 Posted March 7, 2004 Ah yes, shedding.. And allergies *sneezes* Evil Spring. I'm finding white balls of fur everywhere! Including my mouth when I wake up :o Quote
mouseatthebusstop Posted March 7, 2004 Posted March 7, 2004 Paddy has just finnished and I noticed Gladis had started yesterday. you need a dyson brilliant for getting the hair up off the carpet Quote
courtnek Posted March 8, 2004 Posted March 8, 2004 oh, yeaaaaaaa..... A friend pointed out to me at work that my blazer was covered with white dog hair (the foxhound) and after running a roll of tape over it I realized why there is sooooo much hair now....Spring has Sprung..... the floors are hardwood, I sweep them all the time anyway, but the tumbleweeds are getting larger.... Quote
JackieMaya Posted March 8, 2004 Posted March 8, 2004 Jackie isn't shedding much, but Maya is shedding like crazy! I have those lint rollers to get rid of dog hair on clothes, and I keep one at work and some at home. I'm ALWAYS full of dog hair (usually Maya's). My horse is shedding like crazy now too! When I groom her, I wear a windbreaker so that I don't get totally covered in horse hair. Quote
StarFox Posted March 8, 2004 Posted March 8, 2004 Zebra's shedding never realy stops. It just gets worse durring spring time. I mean there is zebra hair in my food, my drink, my bed, my clean clothes, my mouth, the refrigerator and everywhere else. And no matter how much I vaccum there are always tumbleweeds. Quote
xavierandrea Posted March 9, 2004 Posted March 9, 2004 Aw yes. I noticed over the weekend how the hardwood floors had little layer of hair and the tumbleweeds in the corners. Yes spring has sprung. Quote

I showed up there one day, and they had filled almost an entire 30 gallon garbage bag with hair, and asked me if I wanted it....At the confused look on my face (thinking "what in the world would I do with it?) she said "some people take it in to be made into sweaters and hats and stuff....." kendalyn Posted March 9, 2004 Posted March 9, 2004 "some people take it in to be made into sweaters and hats and stuff....." I had a friend in high school whose mom actually kept the hair from their pomeranian and made socks out of it. It was really weird. :o Quote
