schippsmom Posted March 3, 2004 Posted March 3, 2004 :Dog_run: I just heard a tease for the 11:00 news with a vet saying that ProHeart 6 has killed many dogs instead of helping them. My happy a$$ will be asleep at that hour so does anyone know what it is for?? Paula & Re-Run Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted March 3, 2004 Posted March 3, 2004 I'm pretty sure it is a shot that is supposed to give six months of heartworm protecton. But I've heard a lot of bad things about it. Quote
schippsmom Posted March 3, 2004 Author Posted March 3, 2004 :Dog_run: After a quick google search, you are correct Bentleysmom. I knew someone would know it. I told the vet that possible next time I would consider getting it. He also wanted to wait awhile longer for more info on it. This does it for me Paula & Re-Run Quote
KP Posted March 4, 2004 Posted March 4, 2004 You are right, it's a 6 month heart worm shot. I've seen a lot of stuff going around about this, this week. Kind of wierd. Quote
courtnek Posted March 5, 2004 Posted March 5, 2004 The FDA’s answer: it believes the medication could potentially save the lives of more dogs than it harms. That's all fine and dandy, however, I have never heard of ANY dog dying from the once-a-month chewables like Heartguard...so how come it's OK for SOME dogs to die with this medicine when it's entirely preventable? Quote
