Guest Anonymous Posted February 26, 2004 Posted February 26, 2004 Well, I always walk the dogs I am conditioning in the morning and again at night BUT I also walk my housedog just about every day. This morning started out like any other. Except that it is my dogs in conditioning day off so it was my first walk of the day with my housedog. We were walking and I heard this comotion on the side of the house we were getting ready to pass. Well, I picked up my little bitch, just in case, got around enough to see and there was this little old lady and a huge black dog (stray) was on her pant leg pulling and shaking it. She was trying to fight him off by hitting him with her little handbag but it wasnt affecting the dog any. I let my little bitch down (mind you my bitch weighs in at 34lb and this other dog was at least 90lbs) and unhooked her leash. She ran over and grabbed that black dog by the stiffle and pulled him clean off that lady. I wrapped my leash around the other dog and hooked him to the handle on her car door then broke my dog off and the little old lady told us to come in the house while she called the police. She asked me how I wanted to handle things. She actually said "with all the bad things people say about that kind of dog you have and with the way they are treated the police will try to take your dog too." I agreed as well as they probably would have charged me with condoning and allowing a dog fight and taken my dog. When the police got there they took the stray dog and asked her about the "other dog". She told them it was an American Pit Bull Terrier and she would not give out the owners info for fear they might try toconfinscate the dog that helped her. The cops got very upset with her but, man, that woman is an OAK. THey left unsatisfied. I sat there and talked to her for a couple of hours. Come to find out when she was young she had owned a couple of pit bulls. Colby bred at that! She tried to give me what she called "a reward" (of $300!) but I didnt take it. I just asked her to allow me to come by and sit and talk to her sometimes as well as use her as a watering hole. I think she liked that. Anyway, she wasnt hurt. She had a couple of scratches and fell down pretty hard but she was okay. The stray did bite her but he barely broke the skin. My little bitch made me sooo proud! I didnt know if she would do anything to the other dog, since she has never been touched, but I knew she wouldnt hurt the lady, her name is Nadia (Russian! I am half Russian!). i really cant believe the way she did it though. She didnt go to the ear or throat but grabbed the stiffle. I think she grabbed that back end because she didnt want to accidentaly hurt Nadia. She pulled back on his stiffle and he came loose of the pant leg and turned to bite her but missed. thats when I slipped the leash around him. You all should have seen it. Ive read stories of pits doing this kind of thing but had never seen it happen myself and never one of my dogs. My little bitch is getting star treatment from here on out (not like she doesnt already!)!! Nadia insisted I come by at least once a week, with Tage, so Im sure Ill comply with that! I'm so PROUD! courtnek Posted February 26, 2004 Posted February 26, 2004 I'm glad she was able to help the old lady. however, what is a "stiffle"?   Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted February 26, 2004 Posted February 26, 2004 good girl!! extra 5 minutes of tug for that. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted February 26, 2004 Posted February 26, 2004 Wow, good girl! Although I don't know if I would have done the same in that situation... I think you were VERY lucky that the other dog never grabbed your girl and a big fight broke out, although I know that you would be perfectly able to break it up. I just thought I'd point that out incase any lurkers were reading and tried to do the same and a big mess came of it :-? But way to go to your puppy dog! And to you too for reacting quickly and snapping the lead on that dog and such. Isn't it interesting how things turn out too? To meet a previous Pit owner from that! I swear everything happens for a reason and I'm stickin to it   Quote
bk_blue Posted February 26, 2004 Posted February 26, 2004 Clever doggie you have there Hmmm. :) Give her a hug from me. Courtnek- The stifle is the knee (that bit on the dog's hind leg that kinda sticks out, but I guess you could work that out  :) ) Quote
courtnek Posted February 26, 2004 Posted February 26, 2004 :D :D thanks!! I have never heard that term before, although I do know what knees are...    Quote
JackieMaya Posted February 26, 2004 Posted February 26, 2004 Here is a diagram of the anatomy of a dog. The stifle is on the hind legs. Quote

02Buster Posted February 27, 2004 Posted February 27, 2004 ummm am i the only one sitting here scratching his head after reading this. is this your story or one that you found? and you say it was your "match dogs day off". ummm ok.... is that a smart thing telling the world u are a dog fighter? i'm trying to think of any other context that a match dog could be used. is a weight pull dog a match dog. i have been comming to this board on and off for about a year, and only recently started looking everyday. so maybe i'm missing something. good story but sill wondering why you are telling every one you match your dogs? Guest Anonymous Posted February 27, 2004 Posted February 27, 2004 It was the day off for the dogs I am conditioning, sorry bout that. I changed it. Hazel, the other dog couldnt reach her. She is just too long. However, he was a curr and with me right there even if he did get a hold of her he couldnt have hurt her. She did get extra tug, she got tons and tons of hugs, AND she got a huge fat steak with carrots, green beans and rice for dinner. Nadia is really sweet. I called her last night to see how she was doing. She bought Tage a new rope toy and a knuckle bone! I figured later on Ill walk her on over there to visit. It is really cool that she had APBTs when she was young. She told me a couple of pretty good stories already and Im sure she has tons more. She said she knew Pete Sparks pretty well and since I never got lucky enough to meet him I am quite interested in her stories. (There are some great stories about him out there!) Quote
